Wrestling coach busted for faking cancer to get money is now charged with raping a teenage boy

A Michigan wrestling coach who previously faked cancer to raise money has now been accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Zack Jones, 21, a volunteer coach at a middle school in Howell was charged with raping a 13-year-old boy between June and September, reported WJBK-TV.

Officials declined to say if the boy was a student at Highlander Way Middle School, where Jones coached, but said Jones passed a standard background check required for all volunteers in the school district.

Administrators sent a letter to all parents of boys on the wrestling team notifying them that Jones had been charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct.

Police said Jones previously took in more than $8,000 in donations after faking leukemia -- and he received even more cash at banquets and other fundraisers.

Jones remains held on $2 million bond and faces a possible life sentence if he is convicted.
