Marjorie Taylor Greene brags about flouting House mask rules: 'I'm up to almost $90,000 in fines'

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) proudly admitted on Wednesday that she is approaching $90,000 in fines after she refused to wear a mask on the House floor.

"I think it's obvious with the high amount of cases, Covid has continued," Greene told Newsmax, "and there are very shutdown areas that masking doesn't work and there are studies that show that as well as vaccinated people continuing to catch Covid. And that's very concerning to me."

Deaths and hospitalizations have not yet kept pace, but there are worrying signs. Hospitalizations in Illinois hit their highest levels yet; covid patients occupy a quarter of all hospital beds. They are 41 percent of intensive care patients. Some counties have 90 percent or more of hospital beds occupied. Other areas are also seeing worrisome surges. Hospitalization of children hit record levels at year’s end.

TMZ revealed a video of "Waterboy" actor Peter Dante having a meltdown when asked to wear a mask. He refused, so the restaurant refused to serve him.

Dante was out for Korean BBQ and went to a Los Angeles restaurant that has a sign up saying "No Mask No Entry." He got in the face of the hostess, calling her "garbage" and a "c*nt" before demanding to speak to the manager.

A group of people was arrested at the Duval County Health Department Tuesday ahead of a press conference by Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. As the cases of COVID-19 are dramatically increased in the state, protesters were on hand at the public health building demanding answers.

Things turned against the group when the facilities manager threatened to remove anyone who wasn't a member of the press. DeSantis foe, Daniel Uhlfelder took to Twitter to point out that the allegations of trespassing were "unconscionable" because it's a state-building, a public facility in which the governor is holding a public press conference.

US sets global record of 1 million COVID-19 cases in a single day

The United States recorded more than 1 million Covid-19 cases on Monday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, as the Omicron variant continues to spread at a blistering pace.

Johns Hopkins, which has been tracking case numbers since the start of the pandemic, also reported 1,688 deaths for the same period, a day after top US pandemic advisor Anthony Fauci said the country is experiencing "almost a vertical increase" in Covid-19 cases.
