Manhunt underway after ex-cop allegedly shoots officers and threatens 'asymmetrical warfare'

Los Angeles police launched a manhunt Thursday morning seeking former officer Christopher Jordan Dorner for allegedly shooting three officers, at least one of them fatally.
Dorner, 33, is also a former Navy sniper, according to KTLA-TV. Police began pursuing him after Dorner was named primary suspect in the Sunday murder of Monica Quan, daughter of a former LAPD officer, and her fiance.
He published a lengthy manifesto online that named Quan and several others, castigating the department for using excessive force and promoting allegedly corrupt officers. He then threatened to carry out unconventional warfare on anyone wearing an LAPD uniform.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants-TJ," he wrote. "This quote is not directed toward the US government which I fully support 100%. This is toward the LAPD who can not monitor itself."
He ominously added: "The Violence of action will be HIGH. I am the reason TAC [tactical] alert was established. I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty. ISR [intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance] is my strength and your weakness. You will now live the life of the prey."
Dorner adds that he owns a high powered Barrett .50-caliber guns and SA-7 Manpads, a portable anti-aircraft weapon. The search is still underway.
Update: Suspect's badge found in San Diego
A badge belonging to Dorner was discovered this morning by police in San Diego, according to a breaking report by NBC San Diego. It was found near Lindbergh Field. Though police do not have him in custody yet, San Diego police said that a man fitting his description was allegedly barricaded in a Point Loma hotel room.
Update: After mistaken identity, suspect still at-large
Earlier reports pointed to a man barricaded in a hotel room as the the possible suspect, but KTLA Producer Tara Wallis tweeted that the man in the hotel room is not the suspect. The search is still underway.
Update: Police asking public for help
Speaking at a press conference Thursday afternoon, law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect is still at-large and asked if anyone believes they have seen the man to immediately call 911.
The name of the police officer who died in Thursday morning's attack was not released, but officials say the family has been notified.
"I want to reassure the citizens of Riverside that there wasn't anything about the city or specifically Riverside police officers that this individual was targeting," an official from Riverside, where the crime spree began, told reporters. "We know from reading his so-called manifesto that when he started his crime spree, he essentially communicated his sense that the people with whom he had a grievance were fair game, and so are their families, and so were police officers on or off duty."
Other individuals named in the manifesto have been notified, he added.
