DOGE to change gun control rules: 'Dream come true for gun traffickers'

Elon Musk may be gone from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), but that's not stopping the non-cabinet agency from “dangerously” changing the rules at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), according to an exclusive Washington Post report.

“The Administration seems hell-bent on ushering in a golden age for gun criminals, gutting the only agency specifically tasked with keeping communities safe from gun violence,” John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, said in a statement to The Washington Post.

'Remarkable': Reporter stunned by dramatic detail of Minnesota lawmaker shooting

CNN's Tom Foreman called new details coming out about the night Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife, Yvette, were shot and seriously wounded during an alleged political attack, "absolutely remarkable."

Wife of alleged MN shooter possessed gun and passports in traffic stop: report

The wife of the 57-year-old man accused of "targeted" shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses was briefly detained by police Saturday morning at a convenience store, reports KSTP.

With the manhunt for Vance Boelter proceeding after he was singled out for the home invasion shooting of DFL State Sen. John Hoffman’s and State Rep. Melissa Hortman (R) and their spouses, with Hoetman and her husband dying at the scene, his wife, Jenny Boelter ,was confronted by police officers in Onamia , MN.

According to KSTP's reporting, a car containing Boelter’s wife, as well as three other relatives, was seen being surrounded by police.

The report adds, "Sources say a traffic stop was done between 10 and 11 a.m. A witness says about a dozen law enforcement squads converged on the vehicle and remained on the scene for two to three hours."

KSTP's report added, "Two sources tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the vehicle contained a weapon, ammunition, cash and passports. However, to our knowledge, no one has been arrested – just questioned."

Leaked memo warned officials 'vulnerable' to attacks — 'months' before shootings

A leaked Department of Homeland Security memo reportedly shows officials were vulnerable to the same types of attacks that resulted in the death of a Democratic lawmaker Saturday.

A man over the weekend allegedly posed as a police officer and fatally shot a Democratic state lawmaker in her home. According to the Associated Press, the same suspect also shot and wounded a second lawmaker, who could still live.

The Daily Beast over the weekend reported:

"Just months ago, analysts at the Department of Homeland Security warned that high-profile officials were increasingly 'vulnerable to attack' at their own homes."

The report continues:

"A leaked Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo warned months before Saturday’s shooting that public officials face growing threats of attacks at their personal residences."

NRA asks Supreme Court to strike down Florida's post-Parkland gun law

The National Rifle Association (NRA) on Friday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hear its challenge to Florida’s ban on firearm purchases by adults under 21. It’s the latest move by the gun-rights group in its four-year-battle to override the 2018 Florida law that bans 18-to-20-year-olds from purchasing long guns.

The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit denied the legal challenge by the NRA in March, two years after a three-judge panel similarly ruled against the organization. The Florida Legislature passed and then-Gov. Rick Scott signed the law shortly after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland that killed 17 people.
