'No efforts to turn on anything': Ebola officials say Musk never 'restored' prevention

Elon Musk’s claim that his Department of Government Efficiency initiative “very quickly” corrected an accidental cancellation of Ebola prevention funding to the U.S. Agency for International Development got a dose of reality Wednesday evening.

The tech billionaire and DOGE head admitted to the snafu during the first cabinet meeting of President Donald Trump’s new administration, where he conceded that his team would make mistakes – and promised to quickly correct them.

'They discussed this!' Mike Flynn seems to think ex-FBI head Jim Comey wanted to 'kill me'

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn claims ex-FBI Director James Comey probably wanted to have him whacked.

"I knew that we had to fight through this, and it was not easy," Flynn told far-right webcaster Benny Johnson in an interview on Wednesday. "But we were able to stand our ground, we figured out a way out of it, my case was dismissed by the Department of Justice. And, you know, what they should have done was they should have killed me there, Jim, and I know that they considered it. And so, by not doing that, they picked the wrong family to mess with, and I'll tell you, we are so tied into the government, particularly the government right now."

'Serious consequences': GOP governor begs Republicans not to slash Medicaid

Nevada's Republican governor who endorsed Donald Trump for president found himself pleading with his own party to leave Medicaid alone, after House Republicans advanced their budget late Tuesday, which ostensibly calls for cuts to the government health care program for low-income Americans.

The House GOP budget resolution calls for significant cuts that are likely to impact Medicaid funding. The resolution directs the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees Medicaid, to find $880 billion in spending cuts over the next decade. While the resolution does not explicitly mention Medicaid cuts, the math and structure of the budget make it highly likely that Medicaid will bear the brunt of the planned cuts.

Americans are 'downright ashamed' after Trump's latest 'betrayal': senator

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) didn’t mince words while launching into a forceful condemnation of President Donald Trump’s sudden shift on Ukraine in a CNN interview where he blasted the administration as a historic disgrace.

The criticism came Wednesday in response to remarks Trump made during the first cabinet meeting of his second term, where he ruled out offering U.S. security guarantees – or NATO membership – for Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky.

'Exasperated' judge knocks Trump DOJ after 'abrupt' shift over pardon scope: report

President Donald Trump's administration is pulling back on specifics for its pardons for Jan. 6 defendants after attacks of overly broad pardons that could include crimes like conspiracy to commit murder, child exploitation, and more.

Politico's Kyle Cheney noted Wednesday that the Justice Department said three weeks ago that Jan. 6 defendant Dan Wilson was pardoned for the Jan. 6 crimes, but it didn't include charges of him illegally storing firearms at his home.

'You are a fraud': Ex-DNC head unloads on defector who called Dems a 'cult'

Former Democratic National Committee chairman Jaime Harrison took to X on Wednesday to unload on Lindy Li, a former Democratic Party donor who in recent months has taken to making the rounds on right-wing cable networks, proclaiming herself sympathetic to President Donald Trump and calling the Democratic Party a "cult" of failures who refused to heed her warnings.

Li has raised eyebrows from political observers in recent months, many of whom have noted that she was an outspoken, down-the-line partisan Democrat throughout the election and even attacked anyone who criticized President Joe Biden's mental fitness — something she now claims had been obvious to her all along.

'Posse of good ol' boys': MAGA senator wants citizen ‘pirates’ to hunt down drug cartels

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) suggested that private citizens – which he referred to as “privateers” – should be allowed to chase down Mexican drug cartels and receive a profit for their bounty as a way of easing risk to United States military personnel.

Lee floated the idea of the United States sanctioning state-sponsored piracy – a throwback to the American Revolution – Wednesday in a Fox News interview on the “Will Cain Show.”

'Don’t ever, ever take the position': GOP senator gives stern warning to Trump DOJ nominee

During a confirmation hearing for nominees chosen for high-profile posts within the Department of Justice, two of President Donald Trump's appointees wouldn't rule out disobeying federal court orders.

NBC News reported Wednesday that both Aaron Reitz and Dean John Sauer (who have been nominated as assistant attorney general and solicitor general, respectively) suggested to senators that they may ignore a ruling from a federal judge that they disagree with. While neither Reitz — who is chief of staff to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) — or Sauer outright said they would ignore a ruling, both gave cagey answers and notably didn't once definitively say that they would always abide by judges' decisions.

John Deere thumbs nose at Trump as shareholders rebuff anti-DEI bid

A right-wing think tank pressuring shareholders of large public companies to prohibit diversity, equity, and inclusion programs suffered a blowout defeat when they took their case to farming equipment manufacturer John Deere, independent journalist and author Nancy Levine Stearns reported Wednesday.

"At John Deere's annual shareholders meeting today, shareholders overwhelmingly rejected an anti-DEI proposal," wrote Stearns on Bluesky. The proposal, brought to shareholders by the National Center for Public Policy Research, "received less than 1 percent of votes. Deere shareholders: DEI is in. Bigots are out."
