'Call is coming from inside the house': Why some MAGA leaders are targets of 'open racism'

Indian Americans are increasingly finding themselves the targets of racism by far-right Christian nationalists, and those who identify as MAGA Indian Americans who work in President Donald Trump's administration aren't immune to the vitriol, reports Harmeet Kaur in Newsweek.

'Could bring him down': Senator says Trump was 'clearly at center of child sex ring'

With a vote on releasing files related to Jeffrey Epstein just days away, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said this weekend that it was clear President Donald Trump was “at the center of a child sex ring,” and that the president’s behavior over the past week made it clear that the files contained “something especially and specifically incriminating.”

“What we've already seen is immensely incriminating; clearly, Donald Trump was at the center of a child sex ring,” Murphy said, speaking over the weekend with The Bulwark Managing Editor Sam Stein during a panel. “That is heartbreaking that the president of the United States was involved in that kind of gross, craven immorality.”

When the 20,000 pages of documents received from the estate of late convicted Jeffrey Epstein were released, the Republicans in control of the majority on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee couldn't avoid the fact that President Donald Trump’s name keeps coming up and as a result, it's unleashing "political friendly fire," reports the Washington Post.

This "bombshell document drop," the Post reports, "began after Democrats on the Oversight Committee released on Wednesday just three select emails from the Epstein estate that the convicted sex offender had sent to his friends and allies, including one alleging that Trump 'knew about the girls.'"

GOP commits 'two self-owns' after reversing push to 'give themselves more money': reporter

Republican lawmakers are pushing back on a GOP-sponsored provision that would allow for GOP lawmakers to sue the Justice Department for $500,000 over its probe in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, a reversal that one journalist dubbed a series of “self-owns.”

The provision was included in the recent spending bill that re-opened the government, and at the direction of Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD). And, while Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has said he intends to take advantage of the provision and sue the DOJ for damages, other GOP lawmakers have criticized it, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), who said he was unaware of its inclusion.

Thomas Massie (R-KY) over having dragged out efforts to force the Justice Department to release its files on Jeffrey Epstein, with the Kentucky Republican proclaiming Johnson to have “finally learned his lesson” after being forced to schedule a vote on the issue for next week.

“I think he finally learned his lesson. He should have brought this to the floor back in July or September,” Massie told The Washington Post in its report Sunday. “He drug this out. Mark Epstein, Jeffrey Epstein’s brother, issued a statement Saturday addressing the uproar sparked by the release of a 2018 email exchange in which he appeared to suggest that President Donald Trump had engaged in sexual acts with someone identified only as “Bubba,” according to a Business Insider reporter.

Sent in March of 2018, the email in question saw Mark Epstein email his brother Jeffrey Epstein to inquire about whether Russian President Vladimir Putin had “the photos of Trump ----ing Bubba,” using a slang word for oral sex. It was released last Wednesday by the House Oversight Committee, which dropped 20,000 pages of documents it had subpoenaed from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate.
