As MSNBC's Anna Cabrera was asking questions about Trump's secretary of health and human services appearing before a House committee today for the first time since he was sworn in, MSNBC reporter Julie Tsirkin shared video of the exchange between DeLauro and Kennedy and called it a "testy hearing to put it lightly."

"How then can you justify cutting a $20 billion from the biomedical research budget," an incensed DeLauro demanded.

"If you appropriate the money to me I'm going to spend it," he parried.

"We have appropriated, Mr. Secretary," she exclaimed.

According to Politico's Ben Jacobs, the war for the nomination will boil down to a "GOP trainwreck of the 2026 election cycle, a cash-burning demolition derby that threatens to fracture the party, force the White House to intervene."
