'Haunted ever since': Ex-Fed chiefs unite to show Trump consequences of past threats

A bipartisan duo of former Federal Reserve chairs, Ben Bernanke and Janet Yellen, issued a dire warning in The New York Times' opinion page, warning against President Donald Trump's assault on the independence of the U.S. central bank.

"Independence for the Federal Reserve to set interest rates does not imply a lack of democratic accountability," they wrote. "Congress has set in law the goals that the Fed must aim to achieve — maximum employment and stable prices — and Fed leaders report regularly to congressional committees on their progress toward those goals.

President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Alina Habba, was admonished in a New Jersey court when Judge André Espinosa of U.S. District Court found her arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka inappropriate.

Raw Story reported in May that the dressing down of the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey by the judge was so significant that the mayor was caught on a hot mic commenting: “Jesus, he tore these people a new a--hole. Good grief.”

'Stop!' Judge accuses Trump admin of hiding facts that could reveal it broke the law

A federal judge in Washington, D.C. has ordered the Trump administration to stop hiding data about how it is spending congressionally appropriated money, reported Politico's Kyle Cheney on Monday.

Watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed the suit, arguing that the administration was trying to unlawfully conceal information that would indicate it is violating the 1974 Impoundment Control Act, which prohibits the president from refusing to spend money Congress approved simply because they disagree with that purpose.

'Help me! Help me!' Witnesses describe horror at 3 Florida immigrant centers

A new report released Monday by Human Rights Watch details what the organization describes as "abusive practices" at three immigrant detention facilities in the state of Florida.

The report documents conditions for detained immigrants at Florida's Krome North Service Processing Center (Krome), the Broward Transitional Center (BTC), and the Federal Detention Center (FDC) during the period of January through June of this year, and it alleges that all three facilities "flagrantly violate international human rights standards and the United States government's own immigration detention standards."

'Significant concession': Trump admin makes major backtrack in Abrego Garcia case

The Trump administration has made a "significant concession" in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia after claiming earlier this month that it would "immediately" take the El Salvadorian migrant into ICE custody for deportation if he was freed from a federal prison.

Fox News reported that administration lawyers agreed Monday to keep Abrego Garcia in custody in the United States for at least a 30-day period.

'Aren't you undercutting own argument?' Noem attacks NYC as she's grilled over key claim

A reporter accused Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem of "undercutting" promises to detain immigrants who were "the worst of the worst" by instead arresting non-criminals.

"We've seen, outside immigration court here in New York City, people still with pending green card claims, pending asylum claims are grabbed right outside of court," the reporter told Noem at a press conference on Monday. "So my question is this: I understand you're saying you're targeting mostly violent people. Are you not undercutting your own argument when you arrest those others?"

'Dadgum!' GOP lawmaker unleashes on Pam Bondi over 'dirtbag' coverup

MAGA's latest obsession slammed as full on denial of 'fact we all grew up with'

The latest Superman film, while enjoying critical acclaim, has faced an undercurrent of far-right attacks. But this "tantrum" goes beyond the typical "anti-woke" freakout of the right at anything in pop culture or corporate America that promotes inclusion or liberal values, wrote Amanda Marcotte for Salon — it's something more fundamental and alarming.

On the surface, she wrote, it's just more of the same: "The ultimate goal is to persuade people to reject movies, music, TV and other cultural artifacts as 'woke' or 'Satanic,' and turn exclusively to MAGA influencers for their entertainment needs. Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire even has a movie studio where they turn out subpar content that only has an audience because they’ve convinced right-wingers to eschew quality films as too 'liberal.'"

'The base will turn': MTG issues warning suggesting Trump 'no longer satisfies' MAGA

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) warned that President Donald Trump's MAGA base would "turn" if he only gave them "bits of red meat" on accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

"If you tell the base of people, who support you, of deep state treasonous crimes, election interference, blackmail, and rich powerful elite evil cabals, then you must take down every enemy of The People," Green wrote on Monday after the Justice Department asked a judge to unseal transcripts related to Epstein.

Tulsi Gabbard accused of 'bait-and-switch' designed to boost Kremlin propaganda

President Donald Trump's intelligence chief has issued new allegations against Barack Obama and his high-ranking administration officials related to the "Russiagate" investigation, but a conservative columnist said those claims are crumbling under the least bit of scrutiny.

Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, claimed Friday that Obama's intel community “manipulated and withheld” key evidence in the investigation into Russia's efforts to meddle in the 2016 election on behalf of Trump, and she called for the prosecution of former FBI director James Comey, CIA director John Brennan, and DNI James Clapper for "treasonous conspiracy."
