CNN panel ridicules GOP insider for claiming Trump 'has never been stronger'

Although Scott Jennings isn't the only conservative pundit on CNN, he is by far the most relentless in his defense of President Donald Trump. Ana Navarro and SE Cupp are Never Trumpers, and GOP pollster Kristin Soltis Anderson is conservative but not ultra-MAGA.

Jennings, however, lashes out over even mild criticism of Trump. And during a Sunday, December 21 panel on CNN's "State of the Union," Jennings became furious when Kate Bedingfield (former White House communications director in the Biden Administration) and others noted Trump's low approval ratings in polls.

'Cannot let that happen!' Mike Johnson warns Trump will be impeached if GOP loses midterms

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) issued a rallying cry Sunday to young conservatives to stop Democrats from taking back the House majority next year in the midterm elections, warning that should the GOP suffer a commanding loss, President Donald Trump could be impeached.

“Everything is on the line in the midterms in 2026, and we have much more to do,” Johnson said, speaking at Turning Point USA’s annual America Fest conference in Phoenix, Arizona. “If we lose the House majority, the radical left as you’ve already heard is going to impeach President Trump, they’re going to create absolute chaos; we cannot let that happen!”

'He has lost the command': GOP strategist put on spot over Trump's 'shattering coalition'

GOP strategist Scott Jennings was confronted on CNN Sunday with claims that President Donald Trump’s grip on the Republican Party was weakening, claims that Jennings attempted to downplay with a novel deflection.

“He has lost the command and control of his caucus of the Republican Party,” said Kate Bedingfield, political commentator and former White House communications director under the Biden administration.

DOJ scrambles to explain Trump redaction in Epstein files: ‘Literally in your possession!'

Among the thousands of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents the Justice Department released Friday was a filing with redactions removing references to President Donald Trump, a move one journalist flagged Sunday that the DOJ later rushed to explain.

The Daily Beast political reporter Roger Sollenberger noted on social media that among the Epstein files recently published by the DOJ was a 2017 letter submitted in a defamation case against Epstein-associate Ghislaine Maxwell. The letter includes allegations against Trump from Sarah Ransome, a former associate of Epstein’s.

'Whole lot of carnage': How Trump is taking his crackdown on opponents to the next level

Now 11 months into his second presidency, Donald Trump continues to use the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) as a tool of retaliation against his political foes — including New York State Attorney General Letitia James, former FBI Director James Comey, and ex-National Security Director John Bolton. U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie, on November 24, threw out federal charges against James and Comey, but the Trump DOJ has tried to reindict James — so far, without success.

While James is a Democrat, Bolton is a neocon and a longtime Republican — which demonstrates that Trump and his allies aren't shy about attacking conservatives. Many of the Trump Administration's targets, however, are on the left. And in an article published on December 21, Salon's Heather Digby Party warns that Trump will likely expand his attacks on the left in the months to come.

'The night turned sour': Cabinet official called 'poor baby' after his dinnertime freakout

U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent hosted a dinner for his predecessors at which he believed he was being "unfairly" criticized for his actions in Donald Trump's administration, leading one journalist to label him a "poor little baby."

The Washington Post on Sunday published a story called "Market-savvy Treasury chief Scott Bessent emerges as unlikely MAGA warrior," in which it reported, "Wall Street accepts partisan jousting as price of influence with Trump."

Bipartisan group of lawmakers floats plan to 'fine Pam Bondi every day' over Epstein files

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) announced Sunday that he and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) will be moving to hold Attorney General Pam Bondi in inherent contempt of Congress over the Justice Department’s failure to release all files on Jeffrey Epstein by Dec. 19 with limited redactions, as was required by law.

Among the oldest powers of Congress, holding an official in inherent contempt allows for Congress to force compliance either with fines or detention, and in a manner that entirely bypasses the DOJ.

MAGA unable to rein in unhinged 'Frankenstein’s monster' it created: analysis

When the Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro spoke at Turning Point USA's AmeriFest convention on Thursday, December 18, he had some scathing words for someone he once employed: far-right conspiracy theorist and media figure Candace Owens.

This was the first AmeriFest gathering since the fatal September 10 shooting of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. And Shapiro called out the conspiracy theories Owens has been promoting about him.

'Let that one sink in': Ex-prosecutor ties Trump 'wingman' report to missing Epstein files

Donald Trump's name was held back from most of the much-anticipated files release on Jeffrey Epstein, and that could be related to a recent New York Times report describing the now-deceased sex abuser as the president's most reliable "wingman," according to a former federal prosecutor.

Legal analyst and ex-prosecutor Joyce Vance published an article called "Redacted: Donald & Jeffrey" in which she blew up an excuse used by the DOJ to avoid producing required files under an Epstein transparency law. Specifically, she noted that the DOJ has said it won't be able to release all files due to ongoing investigations.

'Ready to name names?' Epstein survivor reveals plan to back DOJ into a corner

Public speaker, trauma educator and Jeffrey Epstein survivor Jess Michaels was pressed Sunday on whether she was “ready to name names” after the Justice Department’s botched release of its files on Epstein, some of them redacted unlawfully, critics say.

While she delivered an ambiguous answer to the question, Michaels did let slip how her response may put the DOJ in a tight spot.

'I'm here for it!' GOP lawmaker cheers as Trump admin gets 'clobbered' by fact checks

Several Trump administration officials were flagged by a community fact-checking service after openly violating the law in their handling of the release of files about Jeffrey Epstein, and one rebel Republican is reveling in the public backlash and growing scrutiny facing the administration.

“Government lies are getting clobbered by community notes and I’m here for it,” wrote Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) Saturday in a social media post on X. He is the very lawmaker who introduced the legislation that forced the DOJ to release its files on Epstein.

A third oil tanker in the Caribbean was boarded and seized Sunday by the U.S. military as the Trump administration’s military threats against Venezuela continue to escalate, Bloomberg reported.

The vessel is known as the “Bella 1,” a sea vessel sanctioned by the United States that was headed to Venezuela to be loaded up with oil, according to a person “with knowledge of the matter” who spoke with Bloomberg on the condition of anonymity.
