'Is this a joke?' GOP's Tom Cotton slammed for saying Biden must support Ukraine

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) was mocked on Saturday by a Democratic lawmaker who said Cotton should "read the room" before declaring that President Joe Biden should provide Ukraine with the weapons needed to beat Russia's advances.

Cotton, who was previously mocked over questions about domestic terrorism in what was called a "self-own," made his comments on Friday as Biden was dealing with criticism for sending cluster munitions to Ukraine. Biden said it was a difficult decision, but that, "they needed them."

Republicans flip out after Biden orders 3,000 reservists to ready for possible deployment to Europe

U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT), along with a host of far-right wing critics on social media are fear-mongering over a Thursday White House memo announcing President Joe Biden as Commander in Chief has ordered up to 3,000 reservists to be ready for deployment to Europe. Some are falsely claiming this could lead to war with Russia, World War III, or a reinstatement of the draft.

“It’s not clear whether the troops will actually be deployed,” Politico reports, “but it suggests the U.S. military presence in Europe is under strain.”

The order is to “augment the active Armed Forces of the United States for the effective conduct of Operation Atlantic Resolve,” the President states. Operation Atlantic Resolve was created in 2014 in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unlawful annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.

Trump legal team revives push to disqualify Fulton D.A. weeks ahead of expected indictments

Former President Donald Trump’s attorneys have filed a petition asking the Georgia Supreme Court to block the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office from pursuing cases against Trump and his allies for alleged criminal interference in the 2020 presidential election.

The frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination on Friday endorsed a petition before state Supreme Court justices claiming that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is committing a flagrant disregard for the U.S. Constitution as the office is expected to soon present to a grand jury evidence for possible indictments of a dozen individuals that could include the former president and other supporters in a sweeping prosecution.

The petition comes after a lower court disagreed with Trump’s claim that political biases are among the reasons why Georgia courts should disqualify the Atlanta Democrat Willis and her team of prosecutors. The petition argues that Trump asked for a different judge to consider a motion to quash than the Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney, who supervised the special jury process.
