Right-wingers freak out over 'gas stove' in Kamala Harris Thanksgiving photo

Vice President Kamala Harris posted a picture of herself and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff in their kitchen as part of holiday celebrations, with the message, “From our family to yours, happy Thanksgiving” — but right-wingers immediately obsessed over one small detail in the photo, noted the New York Post: the presence of a gas stove, which has morphed into a right-wing topic of culture war over the last year.

“Wait…that’s a gas stove! The same kind Dems want to BAN you from owning,” Sen Ted Cruz (R-Texas) posted to X. “Gas stoves for me but not for thee,” Republican Senate staffer Charles Correll III posted.

'An attempt to gaslight us': Harris torches Florida’s new 'anti-woke' education standards

Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday decried Florida's new educational standards that took effect Wednesday which Republican Governor Ron DeSantis enacted to combat what he views as "woke" indoctrination.

The updated policies are "backed unanimously by the state Board of Education" and "encompass the controversial 2022 law regulating how race can be taught in Florida schools — something that was specifically sought by the Republican governor and presidential contender. Board members and state officials defended the updated curriculum that they say touches on the 'darkest' parts of US history against charges by opponents, including the state's largest teachers union, that the changes are an attempt to 'whitewash' what students are learning," Politico's Andrew Atterbury noted.

Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert double-team Kamala Harris over assault weapons

On a day when it was learned that last month’s dispute between Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) on the House floor was a factor in Greene’s expulsion from the ultraconservative Freedom Caucus, the far-right congresswomen who’ve reportedly been feuding for months appear to have landed on the same page Thursday.

Greene and Boebert put their love for assault weapons ahead of their differences as the lawmakers double-teamed Vice President Kamala Harris on social media.

White House calls in tech firms to talk AI risks

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House plans to meet with top executives from Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and Anthropic on Thursday to discuss the promise and risks of artificial intelligence.

Vice President Kamala Harris and other U.S. administration officials will discuss ways to ensure consumers benefit from AI while being protected from its harms, according to a copy of an invitation seen by AFP.

President Joe Biden expects tech companies to make sure products are safe before being released to the public, the invitation said.
