Lawmaker's letter to Mike Johnson alleges speaker let Marjorie Taylor Greene break rules

Following the State of the Union Address, Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY) sent a blistering letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), faulting his failure to hold Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to account for her violation of House rules in the chamber the previous night.

Greene, a far-right lawmaker known for having pushed QAnon conspiracy theories, showed up to the State of the Union wearing a red MAGA hat and a T-shirt bearing the name of Laken Riley, a University of Georgia student believed to have been killed by a Venezuelan man who entered the U.S. illegally. As Morelle noted, this is against House rules.

'Took MTG's bait': Biden hit by backlash after slip forced by Republican's outburst

President Joe Biden was on the receiving end of backlash from his own party after he used the word "illegal" to describe a Venezuelan man who entered the U.S. without documentation and who has been arrested and charged with the murder of college student Laken Riley.

According to Newsweek, Biden didn't intend to call the migrant "an illegal," and instead was expected to stick to prepared remarks that he did read: "I will not demonize immigrants, saying they 'poison the blood of our country,' as [Donald Trump] said in his own words."

WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans' cold, rude and, at times, antagonistic reactions to Thursday night’s State of the Union address has one of President Joe Biden’s closest allies missing Richard Nixon.

If you thought the bar couldn’t get any lower for American politicians, think again. Watergate now seems to be the high water mark for American politics.

Marjorie Taylor Greene 'in direct violation of the rules of the House' at State of Union

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) turned heads and raised eyebrows at the State of the Union Address by wearing a red MAGA hat, along with a T-shirt bearing the name of Laken Riley, a University of Georgia student believed to have been killed by a migrant. Trump's pick to become his plus-one as he marches toward November 5 as the presumptive GOP nominee is purportedly narrowing.

'Marjorie Taylor Greene makes Sarah Palin look like Eleanor Roosevelt': The View

Ahead of the State of the Union address, the co-hosts of "The View" complained about the demise of civility and decorum in Congress.

They attributed the beginning of the end to Republican Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, who shouted "you lie!" at then-President Barack Obama in 2009. The move was so unacceptable to lawmakers that an overwhelming majority of Congress voted to chastise him for it.
