White House probed whether Noem's suspected lover was grifting off DHS contracts: report

As early as last March, White House officials were investigating whether now-dismissed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's top aide and suspected lover Corey Lewandowski was improperly steering department contracts to enrich himself and his friends, reported the conservative National Review on Friday.

"In March 2025, just a few weeks into Noem’s tenure, a White House official called a DHS staffer to ask whether he had heard that Lewandowski was using his influence within the agency to steer lucrative contracts to political allies and whether he had any evidence that would substantiate the charge, the DHS official who took the call told National Review," said the report. "White House officials, lawmakers, and government contractors told NR that they have long suspected that Lewandowski and his political allies inside and outside of DHS are financially profiting from DHS contracts and multiple offices and committees on Capitol Hill are actively investigating the matter."

Trump unleashes 8-post attack on Bill Maher in Truth Social rampage

President Donald Trump launched an eight-post assault on HBO comedian Bill Maher on Friday morning via Truth Social, calling him a "jerk" and "total waste of time" amid mounting crises. Within 15 minutes, Trump reposted far-right and entertainment media headlines attacking Maher, including claims that the late-night host is an "overrated lightweight" comparable to Kimmel, Fallon, and Colbert. Trump called their White House dinner a "complete waste of time." The attack appeared unprompted, though Maher's show airs Friday featuring Trump critics Don Lemon and Sen. Adam Schiff. The social media outburst occurred as Trump faces cascading problems: an unpopular Middle East war, collapsing job market, cratering stock market, and renewed Epstein sex trafficking allegations. The distraction highlights Trump's prioritization of personal grievances over addressing serious national challenges.

DOJ lawyers hunt for pretext to raid Cuba — amid fears of 'dramatic' breach of protocol

Trump administration prosecutors in Miami are hunting for a pretext to charge government officials in Cuba with U.S. crimes, reported MS NOW's Carol Leonnig and Jake Traylor — a development that comes shortly after Trump suggested that there could soon be leadership changes in the Communist nation.

This working group has sparked fear among experts, as such an operation would be a "dramatic" breach of federal prosecution standards.

‘Excuse me, this is war’: GOP Rep fires back at Mike Johnson

A war of words erupted Friday between Republican lawmakers after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) insisted the United States is not at war following recent strikes in Iran.

Johnson made the comments a day after the House of Representatives blocked a war powers resolution that would have required congressional approval for additional military action in the Middle East. The House voted 212-219 against the measure after the Senate defeated a similar proposal, according to Newsweek.

Bondi skewered for 'sloppy and dishonest' plot to shield prosecutors from ethics probes

Under Attorney General Pam Bondi, the "sloppy and dishonest" Justice Department has proposed a new rule that would effectively block state bars from investigating federal prosecutors they license to practice in their state — but there's already a massive flaw in the plan that will make it nearly impossible to enforce, legal analyst Mark Joseph Stern wrote for Slate on Friday.

"Under this rule ... Bondi could freeze state bars’ probes until the department has undertaken its own independent review of any allegations — a black-box process that could stretch on extensively," said the report. "Wielding this new power, Bondi could essentially quash any state investigations into ethics violations by DOJ lawyers, including accusations that these front-line attorneys lied in court, by allowing 'reviews' that might last indefinitely."

Stephen Miller stuns giving Latin American military leaders 'permission' to ignore lawyers

White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller raised eyebrows this week after telling Latin American military leaders they effectively have permission to ignore legal advice while confronting drug cartels.

Speaking Thursday at the Americas Counter-Cartel Conference, Miller argued that criminal justice tools alone cannot defeat powerful trafficking organizations and instead called for beefing up military force.

Jim Jordan targets key witness in Trump Capitol riot case

House Republicans, led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) and co-signed by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, have filed a criminal referral against Cassidy Hutchinson, seeking charges for allegedly lying to Congress. Hutchinson, former aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, testified in summer 2022 that Trump was aware of potential violence on January 6 and attempted to join Capitol rioters. Her key claim involved secondhand reporting that Trump lunged for his limousine's steering wheel when Secret Service blocked his access to the Capitol. Secret Service officials contradicted this account. Former Special Counsel Jack Smith testified that Hutchinson was not a strong witness because most claims were secondhand and inadmissible, with accounts differing from other witnesses. The referral appears aimed at undermining the January 6 investigation's findings that Trump bore direct responsibility.

Republican knives come out for Kristi Noem: ‘I don’t think she walks away from this’

MAGA lawmakers have started to unleash their real thoughts on ousted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, The Daily Beast reported on Friday.

Nancy Mace (R-SC) signaled that she would seek a subpoena through the House Oversight Committee and has called for an investigation into Noem's spending after it was reported that Noem claimed under oath that President Donald Trump had signed off on a $220 million advertising campaign — but Trump said he never had. Mace suggested Noem "will pay repercussions for spending taxpayer funds on her 'personal PR.'”

'I'm done': MAGA actor James Woods says he's no longer a Republican

Far-right actor James Woods announced on X Friday that he is leaving the Republican Party — because Republicans in Congress aren't willing to be aggressive enough in support of President Donald Trump and his conspiracy theories.

The catalyst for Woods' anger appears to be a far-right account that posted a video from Lindell TV of Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) complaining that the House GOP refused to sign on to her subpoena to pursue racist conspiracy theories against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

Fox News contributor Dagen McDowell attempted to spin higher gas prices caused by President Donald Trump's strikes on Iran by noting that Americans weren't yet experiencing "food rationing" as they did in World War II.

"According to AAA, the national average hit $3.22 today," Fox News host Martha MacCallum told McDowell on Friday. "That's a 30-cent increase since the strikes in the Middle East began."
