Ex-MAGA aide scolds Trump as president bleeds voters while living in 'fantasy land'

Former Trump administration communications official Sarah Matthews told MS NOW's "The Weeknight" that President Donald Trump is fracturing his winning coalition with his ongoing obsession about the 2020 presidential election, and his efforts to try to relitigate and change national voting policies based on his conspiracy theories that the race was stolen from him.

To illustrate her point, anchor Symone Sanders outlined how the administration has tried to exert authority over election processes.

Trump's change in travel plans exposes White House fears he's 'in trouble': report

A report that Donald Trump will be leaving the White House and hitting the road in the next few weeks to boost his wretched polling numbers drew a laugh from a Democratic strategist and a comment that the White House is in panic mode.

Two days ago Politico reported that Trump will start campaigning surprisingly early, and on a weekly basis, as his poll numbers flounder and he drags the Republican Party down with him.

MS NOW panel cracks up as Trump admin plays dumb on its own move: 'It's just laughable'

An MS NOW panel chuckled Friday after President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were caught off guard on a question over funding to Planned Parenthood during an Oval Office event this week.

The laughter broke out during a segment about abortion advocates indicating that they could turn on Trump ahead of the midterms as both Trump and Kennedy were surprised to learn that their own administration had moved to return federal funding to Planned Parenthood. Host Chris Jansing turned to panelists Tim Miller, Bulwark podcast host and political analyst, and Sarah Matthews, spokesperson for Home of the Brave and former Trump White House deputy press secretary, for their reactions.

Democrats laugh as Trump hits campaign trail early amid sinking poll numbers

Plans for Donald Trump to hit the campaign trail weeks ahead of schedule have drawn mockery from Democratic strategists, who see the move as a sign of panic inside the White House as his poll numbers slide. After Politico reported Trump would begin campaigning weekly to shore up sagging support, former Trump aide Sarah Matthews said his presence may actually hurt GOP candidates heading into the 2026 midterms, since his policies — not his personality — will be on the ballot and they remain deeply unpopular. Swing Left strategist Yasmin Radjy went further, welcoming Trump to swing districts and laughing that his early roadshow is “great for Democrats,” reinforcing the view that Republicans know they’re in trouble.

Ex-MAGA official tears into Trump's most 'mentally ill, deranged' fixation to date

Former Trump administration White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews shredded President Donald Trump over his escalating demands for the United States to acquire Greenland from Denmark, something both Danes and Greenlanders have repeatedly said they have no interest in.

Trump raised new alarms on Monday with the exposure of an angry letter to Norway, threatening to take over Greenland because he wasn't given a Nobel Peace Prize, another one of his fixations. The news prompted a wave of calls for Trump to be removed from office through the 25th Amendment.

'Deep level of anger' as Trump imperils GOP in red state

During a Monday morning appearance on MS NOW, conservative Republican Sarah Matthews — who served as deputy White House press secretary in the first Trump Administration but is now an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump — argued that liberal firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) is probably too progressive for Texas' 2026 U.S. Senate race. But she didn't think the seat was totally out of reach for Democrats with a more centrist nominee.

Texas remains a red state; Trump carried it by roughly 14 percent in 2024. Yet it's far from the reddest of the red states, and Matthews believes that Republicans have vulnerabilities there — some of which Dallas-based journalist Mike Lee (not to be confused with GOP senator from Utah) identifies in a Monday Politico Playbook column.

Mike Johnson named among biggest 'losers' for 2025 by columnist

When President Donald Trump's MAGA cheerleaders appear on Fox News and Fox Business, they typically put on their best game faces and predict that Republicans will hold the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterms. But during a Monday, appearance on MS NOW, conservative Republican Sarah Matthews (who served as deputy White House press secretary in the first Trump Administration and is now a vocal critic of the president) expressed confidence that Trump's "out of touch" messaging on the economy will help Democrats retake the House next year.

Matthews isn't the only one saying that GOP lawmakers could run into problems in 2026.

'Absolutely insane': Ex-Trump staffer makes stunning 25th Amendment claim after new threat

One of President Donald Trump's former staffers bashed his comments about Democratic lawmakers telling military members that they can disobey illegal orders.

On Wednesday, some Democratic lawmakers posted a video on social media reminding military members that they swore an oath to the Constitution and not a single leader. Trump responded by calling those comments "seditious behavior" and saying the act could be "punishable by death."
