'Machine that mints Democrats' fined for financial violations
Field Team 6, a political action committee that touts itself as a “machine that mints Democrats,” has admitted to violating federal election law by failing to report all of its financial activity before the 2022 election.
The group, which focuses on voter registration in key states, will pay a $14,450 fine, develop a policy document for financial reporting and have a representative participate in a Federal Election Commission training program, according to FEC documents reviewed by Raw Story.
Field Team 6 didn’t disclose $76,029 in receipts and $157,984 in spending for the third quarter of 2022 until filing an amended report almost two months after the original.

Field Team 6 also didn’t disclose $99,258 in receipts and $67,411 in spending on a mandatory report 12 days before the 2022 general election. It included those amounts in an amendment filed six weeks after the original.
Field Team 6 said the errors were because of a high volume of transactions that its staff had to file manually. It also said two $50,000 contributions were “inadvertently excluded from reporting totals.”

The PAC said that in the future it would implement automation for what it was doing manually.
Field Team 6 did not immediately respond to a request for comment by Raw Story.
Field Team 6 raised $1.55 million during the 2022 election cycle, according to nonpartisan research organization OpenSecrets.
The organization was started in 2019 by Jason Berlin, a former television comedy and reality show writer who wanted to combat Trumpism. Among its slogans: “Register Democrats. Save the World.”
The name is a play on SEAL Team Six, the elite Navy unit that killed Osama bin Laden.
