GOP aide slams Dem's 'hyperbole' and 'fearmongering' after she reads Trump campaign quote

Part of the post-mortem conversation about the 2024 election surrounds slippage in Latino men voting to support Democratic candidates. At least one Republican strategist told CNN this gives the party the mandate to start delivering on promises made by Donald Trump, even if that means deporting their families.

"When you look at the mandate and the sheer numbers, it is going to be [about] doing what you said you're going to do, which is let's focus on the economy and getting some of these ridiculous regulations peeled back. Let's focus on the extenders that are going to expire, so we can have an agenda and focus on immigration," said Machalagh Carr, former chief of staff to ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Political commentator Elie Mystal had some scathing words for America in his latest column for The Nation.

"We had a chance to stand united against fascism, authoritarianism, racism, and bigotry, but we did not," he wrote. "We had a chance to create a better world for not just ourselves but our sisters and brothers in at least some of the communities most vulnerable to unchecked white rule, but we did not. We had a chance to pass down a better, safer, and cleaner world to our children, but we did not.

The "Trump sequel" is coming for America whether people are ready or not, wrote Brian Karem for Salon — and everyone needs to be ready for what that entails.

"We are left facing another round of Trump insanity at the White House, brought to us by the same people who voted him in the first time but failed to get him elected in 2020. Three is either a charm or a curse – depending on your point of view – and there are plenty of people gloating or kvetching today," wrote Karem.

'Truth Social is dead in the crib' after election win: analyst

Donald Trump's Truth Social platform may have its future as a viable — yet money-losing — site impacted now that the former president is headed back to the Oval Office, according to an analyst.

The media forum where he has regaled his hardcore MAGA fans since he was booted from Twitter after the Jan. 6 insurrection has little reason to continue existing now that he will have the White House bully pulpit from which to address the nation, make bold announcements and attack his enemies, according to Alex Kirshner of Slate.
