Trump announced on Monday that Cook would be fired “effective immediately,” alleging the Biden-appointee of mortgage fraud, claims that have yet to be litigated in court. Cook immediately rebuked Trump in declaring her intention to continue to serve out the remainder of her 14-year term.

After watching a supercut of members of Donald Trump’s Cabinet lavishing praise on the president during the three-hour-plus televised meeting on Tuesday, the entire panel on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” made no effort to hide their disgust and embarrassment for the administration officials.

In the clip, one after another official expressed their joy working for Trump, with hedge fund millionaire Scott Bessent, now the treasury secretary, gushing, “Economic security is national security and our country has never been so secure… Your Administration has made a meaningful dent in the budget deficit. The average budget deficit during this term is 26% less than the last twelve months under Biden.”

State officials resist federal push to seize residents’ personal data

Kansas officials refused persistent demands from the federal government for access to residents’ personal data solely based on the legal responsibility to protect that data, a state leader says.

In the midst of political attacks and two lawsuits, Department for Children and Families secretary Laura Howard and Gov. Laura Kelly pushed back against federal demands because they don’t know how Kansans’ personal data will be used. The release of information isn’t about detecting fraud because those procedures are already in place, Howard said.
