'Completely made up': Analyst debunks Trump aide's bias claim

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt appears to have "completely made up" a claim in her attack against the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office for forecasting President Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act will add significantly to the federal deficit, immigration attorney Aaron Reichlin-Melnick noted on X Tuesday.

The CBO's preliminary report projects that OBBBA will add $2.3 trillion to the deficit over 10 years, while leaving spending noticeably lower than today — something CNN's Kaitlan Collins brought up to Leavitt at a press briefing this week.

'Chilling': Watchdogs fear FBI probe is cover for direct attack on 1st amendment

A coalition of 12 press freedom groups warned the FBI Wednesday that, contrary to claims by deputy director and former right-wing prosecutor Dan Bongino, a new probe into the leaked 2022 U.S. Supreme Court opinion in a landmark reproductive rights case appears aimed not at confronting "potential public corruption," but threatening constitutionally protected newsgathering activities.

Defending Rights and Dissent led a coalition including Fight for the Future and the Freedom of the Press Foundation in writing to FBI Director Kash Patel about Bongino's recent announcement that he is receiving weekly briefings on a probe into Politico's May 2, 2022 publication of the Supreme Court's draft opinion in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization nearly two months before the ruling was officially handed down and ended the constitutional right to abortion care.

'Cop out': Onlookers react as MTG regrets voting for bill she hadn't read

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) caused a stir on Capitol Hill on Tuesday when she publicly admitted, in a lengthy screed posted to X, that she had not read Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act before voting for it — and she is "adamantly opposed" to the provision barring states from regulating artificial intelligence technology for 10 years.

"Full transparency, I did not know about this section on pages 278-279," said Greene, adding that she would have voted down the bill if she were aware of it. "We have no idea what AI will be capable of in the next 10 years and giving it free rein and tying states' hands is potentially dangerous. This needs to be stripped out in the Senate."

Navy considers removing civil rights leaders' names from ships

In its continued attempt to erase diversity, equity, and inclusion from U.S. history, the Trump administration is planning to rename several navy ships currently titled for civil rights leaders like Harvey Milk, Thurgood Marshall and Harriet Tubman, among others, CBS News reported.

The first ship to be renamed, according to documents reviewed by CBS, is the USNS Harvey Milk, which honors the navy veteran and the first openly gay politician in California's history. Milk was assassinated while serving on San Francisco's board of supervisors in 1978 and became an LGBTQ icon.
