The selection of two-time failed Arizona candidate Kari Lake to lead Voice of America in President-elect Donald Trump’s new administration came as welcome news in MAGA world – and is also reportedly being applauded by some Republicans in her own home state – albeit for a different reason.

Lake, a former TV news anchor turned staunch Trump loyalist, has dominated Republican politics in Arizona, but has lost two statewide bids in the past four years. And her back-to-back electoral losing streak and unique brand of MAGA, election-denying politics has fueled skepticism from other conservatives in the state, POLITICO reported.

Comments made by House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) noted in a recent Bulwark report drew a scathing response from "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough on Thursday morning.

Discussing Donald Trump's desire to have lawmakers who investigated him over the Jan 6 insurrection hauled in and prosecuted, Comer claimed they were fair game.

According to the Bulwark, the Republican from Kentucky replied, "With politicians, if you’ve used a congressional committee and you’ve lied and tried to set people up and falsely imprisoned people, then you should be held accountable."

"Is he going to send himself to jail? Is that what he is telling us right here," he asked with tongue in cheek.

Co-host Brzezinki carried on, reporting that Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) agreed with Comer, adding, "If they broke the law, then they should [be imprisoned]. Now we know that they’ve manipulated evidence, so—if that’s the case, then absolutely.”
