'Oof': Trump rallygoers reportedly 'streaming for the exits' while he was 'still speaking'

Donald Trump held a controversial rally on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in New York, and his own fans were reportedly "streaming for the exits" while he was still speaking.

Trump spurred outrage among historians by holding his rally at the same location as an infamous 1930s Nazi gathering amid allegations from those who worked closely with him that he is a fascist who wanted his own generals to be more like Adolf Hitler's loyal military leaders. The rally itself featured a speaker who made a comment that was disavowed by Trump's campaign and his closest allies.

Trump flirting with 'doomsday scenario' in third bid for office: report

With the 2024 presidential election nine days away, former president Donald Trump may see his third bid for the Oval Office fall short because one of his most reliable group of voters are sending signals that they may stay home on election day.

According to a report from Politico's Adam Wren, evangelical voters are losing interest in the former president with some turned off by his latest campaign that has taken a turn for the vulgar as he reaches out to young men.

In his recent “Believers and Ballots” town hall in Georgia the former president hinted that he is not confident that evangelicals will come to his rescue this time when he complained, "Christians are not tremendous voters in terms of percentage."

That Trump comment came in response to a question about a recent report from Christian pollster George Barna that projected 32 million evangelical voters may take a pass on this election.

As Wren put it, that would be a "doomsday scenario" for Trump who needs a win over Vice President Kamala Harris to not only return to the presidency but also to make a large swath of his legal problems go away.

According to the report, the former president is attempting to put together a "Frankenstein coalition" where evangelicals will find common ground with young men steeped in their own raucous – and less than Christian – culture.

That is a tall task explained John Shelton, policy director for Advancing American Freedom.

Donald Trump's longest-serving chief of staff recently called his former boss a "fascist," and said Trump wished his generals were more like Adolf Hitler's generals, but one conservative analyst has had it with tying the former president's fans to Nazis.

Brendan Buck, a former key adviser to ex-House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), appeared on MSNBC Saturday, where he spoke up about what he thinks is an unfair comparison regarding Trump. Buck, a conservative critic of the former president, said Hillary Clinton went too far when she compared Trump's upcoming rally at Madison Square Garden to a Nazi event.

'He is in serious jeopardy': Legal expert warns Trump his back is against the wall

Should Donald Trump fail a second time to be re-elected he faces the very real possibility of jail time and massive financial penalties due to the sheer volume of criminal cases and civil lawsuits that are on hold until after the election.

That is the opinion of Syracuse University law professor Greg Germain who explained in an interview with Newsweek that the former president's only path to get out from under the federal cases he now faces is to beat Vice President Kamala Harris in less than two weeks and then push the Department of Justice to drop the cases filed against him.

As Germain stated, the multiple federal cases Trump is facing are solid and his only path to victory may be having them shut down.

Speaking with Newsweek's Sean O'Driscoll, Germain pointed to the stolen government documents case filed by special counsel Jack Smith that Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon has dismissed, with her ruling currently under appeal.

"If Trump loses the election, he is in serious jeopardy in the federal criminal cases, especially the documents case if Judge Cannon's dismissal under the appointments clause is reversed, or corrected by the Justice Department, following the appeal," he explained.
