MAGA senator's ‘meowing’ pilot warning slapped with awkward fact-check

Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s warning about furries in the airline industry has run into two Community Notes after he offered meowing pilots and a convention meetup as evidence.

“I know the deranged Democrats don’t like the fact that I called out the insane FURRY CULTURE this week,” the Alabama MAGA senator wrote Friday on X. He claimed an “ALARMING number” of furries work in aviation.

“Don’t believe me? Just a few months ago, PILOTS were MEOWING and BARKING at each other over the radio at DCA,” he added....

MAGA senator's wild threat to put Obama in jail sparks outrage: 'Another imaginary enemy'

A MAGA senator attracted online ire by making a threat against one of Trump's political foes.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) called Obama "a crook" during an appearance on Real America's Voice on Tuesday and demanded, "Let's put him in jail." He added that Fauci "should be in prison" for supposedly "lying to the American people," but didn't specify why he thought Obama should be in jail.

Online, critics responded by attacking Tuberville, his candidacy for Alabama governor, and his MAGA politics....

'Dumbest man in the Senate': Tommy Tuberville mocked after Trump remarks on Fox Business

A GOP senator is being torched online after he tried to reassure people that the Trump administration knows what it's doing.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) was asked during an appearance on Fox Business how he feels about Trump's embattled deal to end the Iran war.

"I trust President Trump. I trust Vice President Vance," Tuberville said. "We don't need to listen to anybody up here on Capitol Hill. Let's trust these two."...

Red state's election-rigging gambit hits a wall in federal court

Red state's election-rigging gambit hits a wall in federal court

Red state officials trying to redistrict their state congressional map suffered a setback in a lower court on Friday.

According to Alabama journalist Kyle Whitmire, a three-judge panel denied Alabama a stay, saying that it doesn't have the jurisdiction. Alabama officials have been trying to undo a federal injunction that came out of the case Allen v. Milligan, which restricts state lawmakers from redistricting until the next Census in 2030.

Alabama officials filed an emergency motion demanding a stay that ended up before the three-judge panel earlier in the week, asking it to lift its own injunction. A separate emergency order was filed to conservative Justice Clarence Thomas, who handles requests from the 11th Circuit asking the Supreme Court to lift an injunction....

'Say what now?' Red state lawmaker triggers alarms with call to 'overturn Amendment 14'

A red state lawmaker quietly called on the Supreme Court to overturn the Fourteenth Amendment, but plenty of people are calling out the stunning remark.

"Say what now?" Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Kyle Whitmire wrote on X, reacting to comments from Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter on Friday.

The GOP state Speaker told local media, "I certainly hope the Supreme Court will overturn Amendment 14," as the state moves to redistrict. The Fourteenth Amendment promises equal protection under the law, as well as due process and birthright and naturalized citizenship....

Fire alarms and flooding force red state lawmakers to evacuate mid-gerrymander debate

Fire alarms and flooding force red state lawmakers to evacuate mid-gerrymander debate

Red-state lawmakers had to stop working and leave the state house while debating a redistricting bill because of a blaring fire alarm and major flooding.

"Crazy moments unfolding at the Alabama State House," reported journalist Jeff Sanders from X on Wednesday. "During Senate debate over the redistricting bill involving Senate Districts 25 and 26, fire alarms suddenly began sounding after an already tense day."

Sanders added that Alabama lawmakers had to deal with a tornado warning on top of their contentious debate about gerrymandering their state. Although the state senators called for a recess to evacuate the building, they did manage to cast their votes to pass a proposed redistricting first, Sanders reported. ...
