'Never seen numbers this bad!' MSNBC host stunned by new Trump ratings

New polling showing Black voter sentiment toward Donald Trump caused MSNBC's Chris Jansing to sit up and take notice Thursday.

Political strategist Cornell Belcher said the polling done by his organization, Brilliant Corners Research & Strategies, shows Donald Trump's job approval and favorability are at an all-time low with the Black community.

"I've been around doing polling for 30 years; I've never seen an official's numbers as bad as they are among Black voters, as Donald Trump's is right now," Belcher said, causing Jansing to interrupt....

Anticipation builds ahead of Biden-Trump CNN debate over different visions for America

The big show in Atlanta may be Thursday evening, but the days leading up to the first presidential debate have been filled with a flurry of campaign events that put on display how each side plans to win a state that narrowly backed President Joe Biden in 2020.

On the Democratic side, Republicans took centerstage on the eve of the debate and issued dire warnings about the threat to democracy if former President Donald Trump is put back in the White House.

A press conference held at the state Capitol Wednesday featured former Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan and former Illinois GOP Congressman Adam Kinzinger, who have both endorsed Biden, and a former police officer, Harry Dunn, who defended the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. ...

Georgia redistricting tossed by judge who says it disenfranchised Black voters

Georgia’s attempt to remap voting districts to disenfranchise Black voters was slapped down Thursday by a federal judge, court records show.

Judge Steve Jones ruled the conservative General Assembly violated the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and demanded Georgia legislators create more Congressional districts with Black majorities by Dec. 8, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution was first to report.

"The evidence before this Court shows that Georgia has not reached the point where the political process has equal openness and equal opportunity for everyone," Jones wrote in his 516-page decision. "Accordingly, the Court issues this Order to ensure that Georgia continues to move toward equal openness and equal opportunity for everyone to participate in the electoral system."...

Alabama GOP accused of ripping off Black voters with new congressional map

Republicans in Alabama have passed a new congressional map that is reportedly being criticized for defying U.S. Supreme Court precedent created to protect minority voters.

The new map is being called out for being unlawful, according to a Friday Reuters report.

"Civil rights groups have already vowed to challenge the new map in court, a month after the Supreme Court ruled that the state's previous district lines marginalized the state's sizable Black population in violation of the Voting Rights Act," Josephine Walker and Joseph Ax reported for Reuters....
