'We are finished!' Enraged Trump aide hurls personal attacks at BBC journalist

Senior Trump aide Sebastian Gorka threw a fit when asked by a BBC reporter about the president accepting a massively expensive gift from the Qatari royal family, according to a report in HuffPost.

Gorka, who serves as President Donald Trump’s senior director for counterterrorism, appeared on Radio 4′s World At One program.

Host Sarah Montague asked, “The Qataris are giving a jet worth $400 million. The U.S. Constitution has provisions that no elected official should accept any present from the leader of a foreign state without congressional approval. Is there a problem with this, because it doesn’t look like it’s draining the swamp?” ...

Busted: 62 members of Congress caught breaking the law

At least 62 members of 118th Congress have violated a federal insider trading and conflicts-of-interest law, a Raw Story analysis of congressional financial disclosures reveals.

Most of these violations involve failures to properly disclose stock trades as required by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act of 2012. Some involve not abiding by the transparency and personal financial disclosure requirements first outlined in the STOCK Act's post-Watergate predecessor, the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.

Flawed Boeing mission to return to Earth with SpaceX: NASA

Two U.S. astronauts who arrived at the International Space Station aboard Boeing’s Starliner will have to return home with rival SpaceX, NASA said Saturday.

“NASA has decided that Butch and Suni will return with Crew-9 next February, and that Starliner will return uncrewed,” NASA administrator Bill Nelson told reporters.

The return of Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams has been delayed by thruster malfunctions of the Boeing spacecraft....

Inside the Democratic National Convention corporate interest moneyfest

CHICAGO — In ballrooms, barrooms and backrooms this week, the business of big business is getting done with Democrats out of public view.

Yes, Bernie Sanders on Tuesday railed before Democratic National Convention delegates about how “millionaires and billionaires” should “not be able to buy elections.” And sure, curtailing “the corrupting influence of money in politics” is a plank in the 2024 Democratic Party platform.

But most Democrats in Chicago are ignoring the socialist senator and stepping over and around that party plank while pursuing cash that corporations and moneyed special interests are all too keen to contribute....

'It would mean everything': Boeing whistleblower lauds prosecutors for urging charges

Federal prosecutors have reportedly recommended criminal charges against the aircraft manufacturer Boeing for mismanaging safety features that led to the deadly crashes of two 737 MAX jets, killing hundreds of people, and a whistleblower called it an encouraging sign.

"I guess my first reaction is that's encouraging, very encouraging news, but quite honestly, I'm reluctant to get my hopes up right now," Ed Pierson told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Monday.

"Why is that?" asked Blitzer....

Boeing CEO recognizes ‘gravity’ of safety crisis but sees ‘progress’

Boeing’s CEO acknowledged to a U.S. congressional panel Tuesday that the company’s culture was imperfect, but insisted the aviation giant was making progress and committed to improving safety.

“Our culture is far from perfect, but we are taking action and making progress,” David Calhoun said early in the hearing. Calhoun opened his remarks by standing to apologize to family members of victims from two Boeing 737 MAX in 2018 and 2019.

The hearing, an examination of “Boeing’s Broken Safety Culture,” follows an April session of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations featuring a Boeing engineer who testified that he was punished for raising safety questions about the top-selling 787 Dreamliner and 777....
