Donald Trump on Wednesday dodged a question about whether he would use campaign funds to pay the more-than-$80 million jury award for columnist E. Jean Carroll, instead asking, "What penalties?"

The former president was asked about using his political operation's money to pay the debt in that case as well as the civil fraud suit, but he appeared totally confused. Instead of replying, he asked about the penalties. When the reporter clarified, Trump appeared to still not understand, because he began ranting only about the civil fraud penalties he is expecting any minute from Judge Engoron in New York.

"I didn't do anything wrong," he said. "That's been proven as far as I'm concerned." ...

Colorado constituents reportedly paid for their GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert to cheer on in-person her fling as he competed in a prestigious cross-country mountain bike race.

Federal Election Commission records suggest Boebert dipped into campaign coffers to cover the $339.94 price tag for "event tickets" to be there for Aspen bar owner Quinn Gallagher, 46, to perform at the Leadville Trail 100 MTB back on August 12, according to an exclusive report in The Daily Mail.

New York City's mayor could face "severe jail time" if an investigation into his 2021 mayoral campaign funds shows he had a "quid pro quo" relationship with Turkey backers, a former FBI agent told CNN Friday night.

Rob D'Amico appeared on CNN "Out Front" to unpack the breaking news that feds surprised Mayor Eric Adams this week with a warrant to seize control of his electronic devices as part of a corruption probe over 2021 ties to Turkey.

D'Amico said jail wasn't likely if Adams, who denies wrongdoing, is proven to have violated campaign laws by accepting money from a foreign government, then dove a little deeper. ...

A federal judge has declined to dismiss a Federal Elections Commission lawsuit against former Idaho Sen. Larry Craig (R) for misuse of campaign funds. According to the Associated Press, Craig's attorneys were unable to convince the court that Craig was on official Senate business when he was arrested in a Minneapolis airport bathroom in a 2007 sex sting.
