Judge rules against Hegseth in wrongful termination case over posts on Kirk's death

A federal judge refused to throw out a lawsuit against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth brought by a Coast Guard contractor fired over his comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk's killing.

U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly turned down the government's attempt to move the case out of his court in a memorandum opinion issued Friday.

The opinion says Peter Souders can now press his claim that federal officials forced his employer to fire him. He sued Hegseth, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, and two lower-ranking officials....

'Striking' claim in JD Vance speech staggers ex-GOP operative: 'Does Trump know?'

A former GOP operative was caught off guard when he heard Vice President JD Vance's comments about Charlie Kirk and the Iran war.

On Thursday, Vance gave the keynote speech at the second night of the GOP midterm convention in Dallas. Through the evening, speakers kept bringing up Kirk because the date marked one year since his assassination during a Turning Point USA event in Utah.

Vance brought him up to talk about hearing out opposing political views and said that Kirk wouldn't agree with everything that Trump has done during his second term....

MAGA suffers 'embarrassing defeat' after 'surprising' victory for journalist: analysts

The rehiring of a Washington Post columnist fired for criticism of Charlie Kirk dealt an "embarrassing defeat" to MAGA cancel culture.

During a Saturday episode of Power Lines, media reporters Jon Passantino and Oliver Darcy discussed the "bizarre and surprising" arbiter ruling that forced The Post to rehire Karen Attiah and give her back pay. The arbiter found that Attiah, the former global opinions editor, had been wrongfully terminated for posts on social media in the wake of Kirk's killing.

"She went on social media and posted that she was refusing to tear her clothes and smear ashes on her face in performative mourning for a white man that espoused violence is not the same as violence," Passantino explained. "She didn't directly name Charlie Kirk, but it came in the hours afterward, and people kind of connected the dots."...

Right-wing fracas explodes over MAGA influencer's attack: 'Spreading poison for cash'

An online battle broke out Thursday between right-wing influencers and MAGA conspiracist Candace Owens.

Owens, who has been vocal about alternative theories behind Charlie Kirk's killing while the trial was underway for the Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of killing the Trump ally, fired off a post on X attacking Ben Shapiro and Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet.

"This your daily reminder that Charlie Kirk always hated Ben Shapiro— he thought he was an Israel-First Jew supremacist. And for years, Andrew Kolvet pretended to hate Ben too until the moment Charlie died. Andrew Kolvet encompasses the spirit of Judas."...

'Dead in the water': Ex-MAGA influencer eviscerates final hopes for dying right-wing group

A former MAGA influencer sounded the death knell for a prominent right-wing group that she says is now "a disaster."

On a recent episode of The Daily Beast Podcast, Ashley St. Clair wrote off the youth conservative organization Turning Point USA as it tries to carry on without its slain founder, Charlie Kirk.

"Turning Point is dead in the water," St. Clair said. "I think it's a disaster, I really do."...

Charlie Kirk murder prosecutor facing charges over Fox News appearance: report

Charlie Kirk murder prosecutor facing charges over Fox News appearance: report

A Utah prosecutor is facing a potential contempt of court charge after appearing on Fox News to discuss evidence in the high-profile Charlie Kirk shooting case, appearing to violate a judge's strict order limiting public statements about the proceedings.

According to NBC News, Deputy Utah County Attorney Christopher Ballard will appear before Fourth District Judge Tony Graf Jr. in Provo, where the judge is expected to rule on whether Ballard's April Fox News appearance "breached" the court's gag order.

Tyler Robinson's defense attorneys filed a motion characterizing Ballard's media appearance as a "contemptuous media tour" designed to circumvent the judge's restrictions on out-of-court statements. Robinson's lawyers have aggressively sought to limit media coverage, arguing that intense public attention threatens their client's right to a fair trial....
