'Shouting match' erupts between lawyers at Trump's classified docs hearing: report

A "shouting match" erupted Wednesday during a hearing in former President Donald Trump's ongoing classified documents case, according to a new report.

The Florida federal courtroom devolved into chaos as lawyers grew increasingly upset over a defense attorney's contested claim he'd been threatened by a prosecutor, according to the Independent.

The argument centered on a previous meeting between prosecutor Jay Bratt and Trump-funded attorney Stanley Woodward, who represents the former president's co-defendant and body man, Walt Nauta, according to the report. ...

Jack Smith slaps down Trump body man's dismissal demand: 'He gets the law entirely wrong'

Special counsel Jack Smith has slapped down a dismissal motion from Donald Trump's body man Walt Nauta in the classified documents case in which both face criminal charges, court records show.

Smith filed a response in Florida federal court contesting Nauta's demand that charges of concealing or withholding documents and taking part in a conspiracy to obstruct justice be dropped.

“Nauta’s challenges to the charges get the law entirely wrong,” Smith writes. “Nauta’s motion should be denied in its entirety, and no hearing is required to address the issues he raises.”...

Feds gave classified information to neo-Nazi defendant: lawyer

Federal prosecutors inadvertently turned over classified information to avowed white supremacist Jordan Duncan, who is preparing for trial on charges related to an alleged plot to attack the power grid and launch a race war, his lawyer tells Raw Story.

Raymond Tarlton, Duncan’s lawyer, made a startling classified material discovery on Feb. 22 when the government turned over a batch of files to the defense team.

“We all of a sudden realized there was classified information produced to us,” Tarlton told Raw Story, explaining that his defense team gave the classified material back to the government. “No one on our defense team has a security clearance … It’s put a big pause in our preparations for them to cure what they call ‘spillage.’...

'Insultingly stupid': Legal experts spurn Trump's bid to ditch classified documents case

Donald Trump on Thursday filed several motions seeking to throw out the criminal case he faces for allegedly keeping classified documents from the White House from authorities, but legal experts were quick to shut down the court filing.

The former president argued in part that he was immune from the case due to presidential immunity, not referencing the fact that he wasn't president at the time of the alleged misdeeds. Trump's former attorney and "fixer" Michael Cohen said the bid to dismiss the action was all about trial delay and fundraising.

GOP says Biden's classified docs report is proof he's unfit — Dems say it's a hit job

The Justice Department special counsel’s Thursday report where it declined to charge President Joe Biden for mishandling classified information included some unflattering descriptions of Biden memory, and now Republicans are likely to use that report to argue he's unfit for the presidency, Politico reported.

The report, prepared by Special Counsel Robert Hur, found evidence that Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency,” but didn’t “establish Mr. Biden’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Republicans seized on the report's contention that Biden is "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." ...

Michael Cohen spotted entering the D.A.'s office as Stormy Daniels hush money trial nears

Former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen was spotted walking into the offices of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg late last week, a source present there — who requested their name be withheld to speak freely about the scene — told Raw Story.

Cohen's presence at Bragg's office comes amid a swirl of legal action among Donald Trump's four separate criminal trials. And it further fuels speculation that the 34-count Stormy Daniels hush money case, in which Bragg alleges Trump falsified business records, will leapfrog the other cases and go first.

At its core, the hush money case — with its salacious accusations that Trump paid off adult film star Daniels to keep their sexual affair quiet — is about election interference during the 2016 campaign. Cohen has now spoken to New York Attorney General Letitia James and D.A. Bragg several times....
