Despite bombing small boats, Trump's aggressive military operations outside South America have made zero progress towards stopping the flow of cocaine, according to reporting by The New York Times.

Nine months ago, the Trump administration started attacking dozens of small boats, killing nearly 200 people in the process. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth touted the strikes as "highly effective" at stopping drug trafficking into the United States.

However, epidemiologists, addiction scientists, and public health experts are saying that cocaine is just as easy to get in the United States as it was before those strikes began, according to the Times. ...

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s revelation Thursday that he wasn't afraid of COVID-19 since he "used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats" prompted a wave of responses online.

Kennedy recalled during an interview that he had met podcaster Theo Von at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting on Los Angeles' Westside.

"And, you know, I mean, for me, I, you know what, I said this when we came in, and I said, I don't care what happens, I'm going to a meeting every day," he added. "And I said, I'm not scared of a germ. I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats."...

Political consultant Stuart Stevens suggested that the Department of Homeland Security look a little closer to home — perhaps as close as the White House — in its efforts to root out convicted criminals for deportation.

Stevens addressed ICE chief Tom Homan on X, writing Thursday, "Here’s a tip, Tom Homan: Cuban born convicted narco-cartel drug dealer named Orlando Cicilia still in America. He’s not hard to find. He’s Marco Rubio’s brother-in law."

Stevens included a link to a Washington Post report from 2015 when Senator Rubio, now secretary of State, was running for the Republican nomination against Donald Trump....

By Luis Jaime Acosta BOGOTA (Reuters) - Colombia and Ecuador broke up a criminal organization responsible for sending up to five tons of cocaine per month to the U.S. and Europe and captured the Colombian brothers in charge, the two countries said on Sunday. Colombian police said the Los Curva criminal organization generated more than $2 billion a year in profits from the trade. A year-long police operation culminated on Saturday with the capture of Colombian brothers Hader and Dairon Cuero, leaders of Los Curva, the countries said. Hader Cuero is wanted by the United States on drug traffickin......

Former President Donald Trump complained that the media is no longer covering the cocaine that was discovered in the White House earlier this summer, during his speech at the "Club 47" gathering in Florida on Wednesday.

Trump called the cocaine "a stash you wouldn't believe" — and sarcastically said he "believes" President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, who has struggled with substance abuse, had nothing to do with the drugs, suggesting that White House staff are using the cocaine to make the president alert enough to do speeches and events.

Trump has previously made that claim on his Truth Social platform, also suggesting that it could be special counsel Jack Smith, the prosecutor who has charged him with two separate criminal cases. He added at the time that Smith looks like a "crackhead."...

The cocaine recently found at the White House doesn't represent the first drug discovered there.

The Secret Service found small amounts of marijuana on the White House grounds on two separate occasions in recent years, NBC News reports.

The drug was found on both occasions by uniformed officers and reports were subsequently filed but no charges were brought because the amount of marijuana found was below the limit under Washington D.C. law at the time, Secret Service officials said, according to the report....
