Trump's proposed "Golden Dome" missile defense system is massively over budget and won't be able to stop large-scale attacks from the top U.S. adversaries, according to a congressional report.

Last year, Trump said that the U.S. could have a Golden Dome that would outshine Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system for the price of $175 billion.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the price tag will be closer to $1.2 trillion. On top of that, "It would not be an impenetrable shield or be able to fully counter a large attack of the sort that Russia or China might be able to launch," the CBO wrote in a report published on Tuesday. ...

The Congressional Budget Office was reportedly hacked by a foreign actor in a "security incident," according to reports Thursday.

The incident apparently happened in recent days "potentially exposing the key financial research data Congress uses to craft legislation," according to The Washington Post.

"Officials discovered the incursion in recent days and now worry that communications between lawmakers’ offices and nonpartisan researchers could have been accessed by an adversary or one of its digital proxies, as well as internal email and office chat logs," several sources told The Post....

Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) claimed Monday that he believed President Donald Trump's spending bill would ultimately pass once it heads back to the House, and that it will include an 80-hour-a-month work requirement for Medicaid recipients.

CNN host Pamela Brown pressed Zinke about how he'll be able to justify the Medicaid work provision to his constituents.

"The Congressional Budget Office estimates that nationally, the Senate version of Trump's agenda bill would leave 11.8 million more people without health insurance by the year 2034," Brown began, then asked, "How do Republicans explain this to their constituents?"...

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) acted surprised at CNN host Pamela Brown's follow-up question about a Congressional Budget Office prediction during a discussion about possible Medicaid cuts in Donald Trump's "one big beautiful bill."

Brown began, "10.9 million people, according to the CBO, could lose their health care over the next 10 years if this bill passes. Now, I know you have taken issue in the past about how CBO scores, so I want to get ahead of you on that one."

Scott laughed, saying, "Yes, ma'am! I hear you, Pamela. You're good!" ...

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) confounded CNN host John Berman over his justification for passing President Donald Trump's spending bill after claiming he was against adding to the national debt.

"You just talked about your opposition to deficit spending," Berman said. "The CBO — Congressional Budget Office — just put out figures that this will add $2.4 trillion to the national debt."

Sessions said that the struggle over the "one big beautiful bill" isn't "a perfect battle" for Republicans, but it has to be passed. ...

President Donald Trump railed against the Congressional Budget Office's predictions about growth over the next decade, calling their efforts "absurd" in a Truth Social rant on Friday.

"The Democrat inspired and 'controlled' Congressional Budget Office (CBO) purposefully gave us an EXTREMELY LOW level of Growth, 1.8% over 10 years. How ridiculous and unpatriotic is that!" Trump wrote.
