LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian Ellen DeGeneres has been chosen to host the annual Oscars telecast in March, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said on Friday.

On Friday, talk show host Ellen Degeneres took aim at the Boy Scouts of America's ban on LGBT members and leaders. Degeneres, a former Girl Scout, took exception to the fact that the BSA punted on the issue this week rather than striking down the ban against LGBTs in scouting. The scouts' leadership council announced on Wednesday that it will not take any action toward striking down the ban until May.

Appearing on CBS This Morning on Thuesday, J.C. Penny CEO Ron Johnson put an end to the so-called controversy over talk show host Ellen DeGeneres being picked as the company's spokeswoman.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is finally responding to an anti-LGBT rights group that called on JC Penney to fire her as their spokesperson because she is a lesbian.
