Trump handed yet another loss as appeals court smacks down latest delay tactic

Former President Donald Trump's latest demand to put the Manhattan hush money trial on hold was just smacked down.

According to the Associated Press, Trump was seeking to stay the trial, the first of his four criminal cases to go to court, while he tries to get the case moved out of Manhattan to another jurisdiction on the grounds that he can't get a fair jury pool there.

However, according to the report, Justice Marsha Michael "has once again denied a request by Trump’s attorneys to halt his criminal trial ... [she] issued the ruling just minutes after a brief hearing. The arguments in the midlevel appeals court came hours after the jury selection process concluded in Trump’s criminal trial, which is currently taking place roughly two miles south."...

Ex-judge puts Trump on notice that delay tactics are done: 'Rabbits are out of that hat'

Former President Donald Trump has completely exhausted every option to delay the Manhattan hush money trial any further, retired judge Diane Kiesel told MSNBC's Chris Hayes on Thursday evening.

This comes after Trump lost three separate bids this week to delay the trial, which is scheduled to begin jury selection on Monday.

"Diane, you served as a judge 25 years on the same bench that Judge Merchan is," said Hayes. "So with these increasingly ridiculous Hail Marys, do you think this will happen?"...

Trump denied stay on E. Jean Carroll verdict — judge cites 'his own dilatory actions'

Former President Donald Trump has lost his bid to get another extension on having to pay the judgment in the E. Jean Carroll verdict.

According to Politico's Kyle Cheney, Judge Lewis Kaplan has stated that Trump only has himself to blame for his current financial difficulty in paying the damages he owes to Carroll.

"Mr. Trump's current situation is a result of his own dilatory actions," he wrote in his order. "He has had since January 26 to organize his finances with the knowledge that he might need to bond his judgment, yet he waited until 25 days after the jury verdict — and only shortly before the expiration of Rule 62's automatic 30-day stay of any judgment — to file his prior motion for an unsecured or partially secured stay pending resolution of post-trial motions."...

Judge Cannon denies Trump's delay demand in classified document case

Judge Aileen Cannon on Thursday denied former President Donald Trump's demand to delay court proceedings in his classified document case, court records show.

The Florida federal judge refused to postpone pretrial deadlines as she, Trump, and special counsel Jack Smith debate about how trial materials should be shared with the public.

Cannon hedged her ruling by saying she'll consider filings received past the deadlines she set if Trump's attorneys can prove they are necessary, notes Politico reporter Kyle Cheney, among the first to spot the filing. ...

'Only reporter in Chutkan's courtroom' reveals judge's next steps on Trump trial

'Only reporter in Chutkan's courtroom' reveals judge's next steps on Trump trial

Judge Chutkan is reportedly signaling a flexibility that would allow her to easily reschedule Donald Trump's D.C. elections trial, which has fallen off the court's calendar as parties await an appeals court ruling on the former president's claimed absolute immunity.

Chutkan hasn't said much publicly about the Trump trial and the delay that is necessary to determine if the case can continue against the ex-president. But the judge may have given some hints at a minor hearing held earlier on Friday, according to Politico's senior legal affairs reporter, Kyle Cheney.

"I was the only reporter in Chutkan's courtroom earlier today when she made some comments about her upcoming trial calendar," he teased before publication Friday....

Expected verdict in Trump's civil fraud trial just hit a snag: report

The verdict in the $370 million fraud trial that could determine if Donald Trump can legally do business in the Empire State won't be coming until early to mid-February, a New York State court spokesperson told The Guardian.

A verdict was expected to be offered by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron by January 31.

On Jan. 11 as closing arguments culminated, he said, “I will do my best" to meet that deadline....
