No candidate age limits: Democratic delegates

CHICAGO — Not two months ago, high-profile Democrats began calling for President Joe Biden to drop out as the Democratic presidential nominee — attributing much of his plummeting poll numbers to his age and a disastrous debate performance against Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Many had grown convinced Biden had neither the mental sharpness nor physical stamina to beat Trump, say nothing of serving another four-year term — he’d be 86 years old when he left the White House in early 2029.

Video emerges of Bannon ally worrying women may sit in bathroom urinals at DNC

A newly surfaced video from last week's Democratic National Convention in Chicago flagged by Intercept reporter Jacqueline Sweet shows a host with the far-right channel Real America's Voice speculating that women who entered the convention's gender-neutral bathrooms may end up befuddled by the urinals.

"It makes me wonder, if they switched out all the urinals, or all the women who have never seen a urinal are sitting in them," said Ben Bergquam, who is a frequent guest on Steve Bannon's "War Room" podcast.

"Might have to go in and find out," he added with a laugh at the apparent thought of checking in on whether women squat in public over urinals on full display....

Kamala Harris wants to unleash a young voter tsunami. But will her plan work?

Kamala Harris wants to unleash a young voter tsunami. But will her plan work?

CHICAGO — The "brat"-themed branding reverberating this summer through Gen Z also rocked the 2024 Democratic National Convention as candidates and organizations rally young voters — many participating in their first election — to Kamala Harris’ cause.

Young voters stand to be a critical bloc in the 2024 presidential election, particularly in swing states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia. Here, vote margins in thousands — even hundreds — could determine whether Harris or Republican nominee Donald Trump wins the White House.

And Harris has work to do during the presidential election’s final weeks, particularly among young men, who continue to prefer Trump in significant numbers....

Why Chicago’s 2024 Democratic convention didn’t devolve into 1968

CHICAGO — Despite some protesters’ vows to “make it great like ’68,” history did not repeat itself, and the streets of Chicago did not descend into chaos during this year’s Democratic National Convention.

And inside the United Center, delegates cheering the presidential nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris experienced none of the turmoil that upended the 1968 convention, when security forces roughed up journalists and attacked campaign volunteers.

Ex-GOP congressman faced 'uphill battle' to change Republicans' minds at DNC: analyst

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) was one of several anti-Trump Republicans who spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this year to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris — and particularly notable was how he tried to convince fellow Republicans to join him, wrote Philip Bump for The Washington Post on Friday.

Specifically, he wrote, Kinzinger tried to break Republicans' preconceptions of patriotism.

“I’ve learned something about the Democratic Party, and I want to let my fellow Republicans in on the secret: The Democrats are as patriotic as us,” Kinzinger told the audience. “They love this country just as much as we do. And they are as eager to defend American values at home and abroad as we conservatives have ever been.”...

Kamala Harris hits 'unserious' Trump over crimes and misdeeds — in and out of office

Kamala Harris accepted the presidential nomination on Thursday at a raucous Democratic National Convention and warned of a bleak vision of a Donald Trump return to the White House.

Donning a dark blue suit — and following a lengthy welcoming applause — Harris made her case to the American people, emphasizing that she comes with the experience of a prosecutor — while her opponent comes with a criminal record.

"As a prosecutor, I charged not in the name of the victim, but in the name of the people," she said. "A harm against any of us is a harm against all of us."...
