A former White House official's description of how President Donald Trump feels about the press floored CNN anchor Erin Burnett.

On Wednesday, former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham gave an anecdote about press access in dictatorships. She illustrated Trump's feelings about the press by revealing what he said while meeting with leaders of those countries.

"Speaking of Russia and North Korea and China, I heard him on two different occasions, in a [bilateral discussion] with China and in a [bilateral meeting] with North Korea ... he told them on both occasions, the dictators, 'That is the press. Aren't they animals?'" Grisham said....

CNN anchor Erin Burnett called the conditions on the USS Abraham Lincoln "shocking" during a live broadcast on Thursday as new details emerged about dire troop morale.

Burnett spoke with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who sits on the Armed Services Committee. The lawmaker wrote a letter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth asking for information about the troops on naval ships and pushed back on Hegseth's claims.

"Hegseth trying to characterize these powerful, credible reports as fake news is really a disservice and profoundly disrespectful to the sailors who are on the USS Abraham Lincoln and enduring these hardships," Blumenthal said. ...

The DOJ made its announcement that it would drop charges against David 'Davey' Hearn just as Burnett was speaking with former Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA) and political consultant Karen Finney.

"U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro's office admitted in a new filing, this is really important that they learned after filing the charges against Hearn that 'damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor, Atlantic Industrial Coatings, and the rush to complete the project prior to events associated with the America 250 celebration," Burnett said. ...

A video of President Donald Trump and his cabinet members making statements that bucked recent polling numbers left a CNN anchor shocked.

CNN anchor Erin Burnett aired footage of Trump's cabinet members showering him with praise, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. touting the president's transparency and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent saying the economy under Trump is "the envy of the world" and a feat the founding fathers "could not have imagined."

She contrasted that with recent poll numbers that show Americans don't quite view Trump the same way, including a 34 percent approval rating. It marks Trump's "lowest approval rating among the American people so far," Burnett noted....

The widow of a service member recently killed amid the Iran war was speechless when asked about the Trump administration's response.

During an interview with CNN anchor Erin Burnett, Mia Gonzalez-Swinton spoke about her husband, late Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, who was one of four U.S. service members killed last weekend in the ongoing conflict with Iran. Swinton was killed in Iraq, and his name vanished from the Department of Defense casualty list, Burnett noted.

Gonzalez-Swinton gave a tearful interview with Burnett where she described her late husband as "goofy" and a father to a baby girl. Burnett asked her about the Trump administration removing her husband's name, along with three others, from the casualty list....

The clips revealed multiple instances where Trump discussed the Iran war and made explosive remarks. Burnett raised several questions about the ongoing conflict and questioned the president after Trump announced the United States would strike Iran for the third night in a row and said the military was "taking over" the Strait of Hormuz.

"The White House told Congress that the U.S. is targeting missile launch sites, air defenses, military maritime assets, military support infrastructure and command and control capabilities, which is quite an extensive list," Burnett said. "And it does raise a really important question, because isn't this what Trump has already said again and again and again was already accomplished by his 136-day war? After all, Trump has claimed all those things that I listed have been wiped out and eviscerated, destroyed by the U.S."...
