A CNN fact-checker on Tuesday called out President Donald Trump's rambling speech for its 'litany of lies."

Daniel Dale described how several points that Trump made during his nearly two-hour-long press conference on the first anniversary of the inauguration of his second term were hard to keep up with — and that each topic the president attempted to hit was full of confusing comments and misinformation.

"There are just so many. I'm struggling to keep track of it," Dale said. "You know, $18 trillion in investment in the U.S., that's a fictional figure, 600% reduction in prescription drug prices. That's a fictional figure. 'I ended eight unknowable wars.' Eight is a fictional figure. 'We inherited inflation at a historic high.' No. He inherited a 3% inflation just a little bit above where it is now, although it did hit about a 40-year high in June 2022, more than two years before he returned to office."...

Former President Donald Trump gave one of the largest presidential nomination acceptance speeches in history at the Republican National Convention last week. It was also loaded with lies, wrote Steven Rattner, a former adviser to the Treasury secretary in the Obama administration, for The New York Times.

This comes after The Times analyzed the reaction of undecided voters to the speech, many of whom found it bizarre and unsettling.

Trump, wrote Rattner, "used the opportunity, as well as his June debate with President Biden, to repeat favorite false claims and exaggerations. That Mr. Trump has a proclivity for saying untrue things is well known. But in his latest campaign for the White House, I’ve been struck by what appears to be an escalation in both the frequency of Mr. Trump’s lies and the outrageousness of his distortions."...

Former President Donald Trump emerged from the latest day of his criminal hush money trial in Manhattan to tell reporters that he probably wouldn't be testifying — because he wasn't allowed to. "I'm not allowed to testify because of the unconstitutional gag order, we're appealing the gag order and let's see what happens," he said.

But that is completely wrong, said CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale.

"He kept saying he's not allowed to testify," said anchor Jake Tapper....

Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that Joe Biden's White House banned religious-themed egg designs from its Easter celebration, but that policy extended even into Trump's term, according to some insiders.

Trump and other MAGA-worlders melted down over the alleged change, represented by a White House invitation for children from families of the National Guard to submit artwork to appear on the traditional holiday event, and also to ensure eggs kindly refrain from using religious symbols of any kind.

Former President Donald Trump attacked Judge Juan Merchan, the jurist overseeing his Manhattan hush money trial, by claiming that his daughter posted a picture of him behind bars on social media.

The problem, according to The Spectator's Jacqueline Sweet, is that that almost certainly didn't happen.

"The account’s veracity is dubious at best, with a creation date of April 2023. Analysis of the Twitter ID associated with the account shows that Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter Loren’s known Twitter account, that she has used since 2016, had its name changed and was set private at some point last spring," she wrote. "The same Twitter ID associated with Loren Merchan’s original Twitter account name, @LorenM426, is now attached to a new name, @LorenM0604, that has a profile picture of Loren Merchan, the same number of followers and posts as the account created in 2016, viewable in archives of the account. It is unclear who runs this account."...

Donald Trump may enjoy jabbing 81-year-old Joe Biden for his frail state, but he appears to have forgotten the times that he's targeted his successor's stutter.

A Washington Post story suggested former President Donald Trump's mockery of Biden might backfire as the duo close in on a potential rematch to become the 47th president.

The story claims that in recent weeks Trump, 77, has been "falsely claiming that the president is stuttering during his speeches, and he has parodied the purported stammer on occasion." ...
