Darline Graham's campaign in hot water as 'excessive' donations pile up: report

The Federal Election Commission has forced Darline Graham to refund Senate campaign donations from powerful backers that surpassed legal limits.

According to a Wednesday report by NOTUS, the GOP candidate for Senate in South Carolina and sister of late Sen. Lindsey Graham violated campaign finance rules. Graham must refund or redesignate roughly 10 percent of her cash on hand, currently $251,000, according to NOTUS.

Individual donors may give a federal-level political candidate up to $3,500 per election, including primaries, runoffs, and general elections, under FEC rules....

Harris obliterates Trump in July fundraising

Democrat Kamala Harris obliterated Republican Donald Trump in July fundraising, with her presidential campaign raising more than $204 million — more than four times her opponent's haul for the month, new federal records indicate.

Trump's presidential campaign committee raised about $47.5 million during July, according to documents filed late Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission.

Even by contemporary political standards, where general election presidential candidates are expected to raise tens of millions of dollars every month, Harris' total is extraordinarily large — fueled by a rush of interest and energy for her campaign following President Joe Biden's withdrawal on July 21. ...

Trump-Musk interview a 'brazen' violation of federal election laws: FEC complaint

A Democratic-aligned political action committee filed a complaint with federal election regulators accusing Donald Trump, his campaign and the social media site X of violating federal election laws during Trump's interview with tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Trump's lengthy interview with Musk on Monday "violated" federal rules banning corporations from making contributions to federal candidates, and barring federal candidates from accepting such contributions," alleged the complaint filed Tuesday by the group End Citizens United.

The group said the interview "amounted to a virtual campaign event for Donald J. Trump financed by X."...

Hotel heist: Fraudsters stole thousands from hospitality giant's political committee

WASHINGTON — An "unknown and unauthorized external party" stole nearly $7,500 from Marriott International's federal political action committee — the latest in a string of thefts affecting high-profile politicians, corporations and unions.

The thefts, which took place on Feb. 20 and March 12, according to federal documents reviewed by Raw Story, were not an inside job, the Marriott International Inc. Political Action Committee told the Federal Election Commission.

"The transactions were external fraudulent activity and not the result of committee staff misappropriating funds or due
to a failure to implement internal controls," Marriott International's PAC wrote the FEC on Aug. 6 following an inquiry from the agency in July. "In fact, the Committees internal controls contributed to the quick identification, reporting, and remedy of this issue."...

'N----- for Trump' creator: I launched PAC to counter 'White Dudes for Harris'

While former President Donald Trump was addressing an audience of Black journalists on Wednesday, a new super PAC using the N-word sprung into existence, with official paperwork filed with the Federal Election Commission.

But the timing for the creation of "N----- for Trump" was "genuine coincidence," Jeremiya Mitchell, the 25-year-old man who created the super PAC, told Raw Story in an exclusive phone interview.

Mitchell told Raw Story that the fundraising committee is legitimate and has plans to fundraise for Trump "in the making."...

N-word political committee materializes during Trump interview with Black reporters

CHICAGO — In the midst of former President Donald Trump's interview today with Black journalists, a person created a federal super PAC that uses the N-word, according to an official filing with the Federal Election Commission that Raw Story reviewed.

A statement of organization for "N----- for Trump" was filed at 2:35 p.m. ET Wednesday with the FEC, the documents indicate.

The treasurer, listed as "Mitchell, Jeremiya, Tommy" of Brewton, Ala., did not immediately respond to Raw Story's request for comment at the email listed in the filing....
