First lady Melania Trump says her family time is taking a hit, and she pointed to her husband's late nights in the Oval Office as part of the reason.

Appearing Wednesday on Fox Business' "The Big Money Show," Trump was asked by co-host Taylor Riggs whether she still manages Sunday dinners or time with her son, Barron, and what advice she had for mothers stretched thin, the Express reported.

Her first tip was to put family time on the calendar, because everyone in her household is so busy. Then she described what that looks like in practice....

A White House historian on Tuesday lamented that President Donald Trump just made her "worst fear come to fruition."

Katherine Jellison, an Ohio University historian and scholar of first ladies, told Politico Magazine that the East Wing destruction will lead to lasting consequences.

“Those of us who do oral histories — interviewing former first ladies, their children, their staff members — a place like the East Wing is a physical structure that can spark those kinds of memories,” Jellison said. ...

A historian who has written about former ladies and the White House said that kicking first lady Melania Trump and her staff out of the East Wing to build a ballroom "sends a message" and has a "jarring" impact on Americans watching the destruction.

Kate Andersen Brower, author of "Exploring the White House," told CNN anchor Dana Bash during a panel discussion Thursday about how the East Wing is where the first lady's office has been located, and the demolition has knocked down the public entrance of the building.

"I think that it's jarring for to people to see the demolition take place like this, especially when we were told that it wouldn't happen quite this way, that the entire East Wing wouldn't be knocked down," Andersen Brower said. "And if you just think of the history there, I mean, Martin Luther King visiting Johnson during the Civil Rights Bill, FDR handling World War II. I mean, anybody who's worked in the White House knows that you're standing in this hallowed ground, and it was never meant to be a palace, and I think that's something that is especially concerning about this is just the size of it. I mean, almost two football fields long. It's really unusual." ...

House Republicans voted Tuesday to rename the opera house at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts after first lady Melania Trump.

Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID) announced on social media, "Yes, we renamed the opera house at the Kennedy Center for the First Lady who is the honorary chairman of the board of trustees for The Kennedy Center. This is an excellent way to recognize her support and commitment to promoting the arts."

Scripps News Nathanial Reed added context to the renaming, writing, "Buried in amendments to the Interior Dept. Gov funding bill, is a stipulation that the Kennedy Center Opera House must be renamed the 'First Lady Melania Trump Opera House' in order to receive federal funds. The Appropriations Committee adopted that amendment by a vote of 33-25."...

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), one of the most vocal Democrats in Congress who's poised to take a future leadership role, is once again finding herself in the crosshairs of White House officials.

On Wednesday, a Trump administration official told Fox News's Chad Pergram, "Jasmine Crockett has the brain capacity of a jellyfish and is the last person on Earth to critique anyone’s mental acuity, let alone intelligence."

Harrison Fields, White House principal deputy press secretary, continued, telling Pergram, "The Democrats’ rising star has done more to cement the party’s demise than the President she breathlessly supported, the decrepit and feeble Joe Biden. Jasmine continues to prove she’d be better suited as a reality TV star on VH1 than an elected official on Capitol Hill."...

During a House hearing on "restoring integrity in the visa process" this week, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) called out first lady Melania Trump's own visa history to illustrate the point that the Trump administration doesn't fully grasp the meaning of the word integrity.

"Integrity isn't snatching lawful visa holders off the streets and throwing them into unmarked vans," Crockett began. "Integrity is not revoking visas based on social media posts that hurt somebody's little feelings, because kids decided they wanted to go after Trump or this administration -- we have a thing called free speech in this country."
