Thousands of Bangladesh garment workers blocked roads and attacked factories outside the capital Dhaka on Saturday demanding a $100 minimum monthly wage.
AFP - Seventy top retailers have pledged to improve worker safety and allow inspection of all of their garment factories in Bangladesh within nine months under a pact signed with unions after a deadly factory collapse, a statement said Monday.
More than 140 workers, mostly women, at two Bangladeshi garment factories near the capital Dhaka fell ill on Sunday after drinking suspected contaminated water in their workplace, police said.
