Conservative icon detonates on Trump over baffling new fixation as world slides to brink

Conservative columnist George Will unloaded on President Donald Trump in a scorching new Washington Post editorial published Friday, branding the president "frivolous" and "oblivious" as global tensions mount.

The column, headlined "Amid an August of mounting danger, a frivolous, oblivious president," opens with a searing indictment: "This August features a stunning divergence. The world becomes more dangerous as U.S. governance becomes more frivolous."

Journalist Scott MacFarlane, now chief Washington correspondent for MeidasTouch Network, flagged the lead sentence on social media Friday, calling attention to Will's characterization of the president....

'Gnat nibbling': Columnist belittles Musk theatrics while Congress looks on 'pathetically'

The Washington Post's George Will claims that the "theatrics" of Elon Musk's DOGE cuts that have caused fury over database access and mass firings is a brilliant distraction from the country's biggest problem: the massive debt that continues to spiral out of control.

In a Wednesday opinion piece, Will wrote that the administration has had little "substantial achievement" so far toward DOGE's mandate to eliminate government "waste, fraud, and abuse." It's deeply unsurprising that conservatives decided to honor the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington by denying that racism still exists and instead arguing that racial disparities can therefore only be blamed on black people's supposed inferiority. I mean, they don't say it that bluntly, but pretty much every right wing reaction I saw chronicled amounted to trying to argue that black people, as a group, are broken in some way that white people aren't, and that's the only issue that needs addressing. George Will's assholery above (via) is a perfect example. When Donna Brazile and Cokie Roberts correctly pointed out that Republicans are currently trying to take away some of the protections that Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement fought for---specifically by undoing a big chunk of the Voting Rights Act---Will decided to instead obsess about the evils of fornication.

Stephen Colbert: 'Santorum surge' just got real

According to Stephen Colbert, you can tell that things are looking up for former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) when "the most influential voice of the 19th century, George Will" is writing Op Ed columns calling him the "fun candidate" in the GOP race for the 2012 presidential nomination.
