Clarence Thomas just made the case to impeach himself on Ted Cruz's podcast: expert

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas built a case for his own impeachment by praising his Republican senator "friends" on a podcast, a legal expert warned.

In a Tuesday episode of the "Legal Breakdown" podcast, former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner reacted to comments made by Thomas during an episode of "Verdict with Ted Cruz." Thomas thanked Republican Texas senator Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and other GOP allies for defending him and his wife, Ginni Thomas.

"You're one of the people who actually stands up, particularly at times when others seem to wither, and I appreciate it," Thomas told Cruz, per Kirschner. "And more personally, when we — my wife and I — were under attack for obvious reasons, you and Mike Lee and some of the other friends would stand up."...

'Outrageous and infuriating': Trump DOJ's 'searingly corrosive' probe alarms ex-prosecutor

A former federal prosecutor warned that the Justice Department's probe of FBI agents who searched Mar-a-Lago is "searingly corrosive" to law enforcement.

Earlier this week, the DOJ made a "pretty shocking announcement" targeting the FBI officials who executed the 2022 search warrant at President Donald Trump's Florida resort, progressive political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen said in a Saturday episode of his Legal Breakdown podcast.

His guest, former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner, said the move was at once "outrageous and infuriating and yet more of the same." Kirschner argued that the probe is an attempt to "undo" the classified documents case that special counsel Jack Smith dismissed after Trump won reelection....

Todd Blanche's fawning over Trump may land him in legal jeopardy: ex-prosecutor

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's gushing comments about Trump have an ex-prosecutor sounding the alarm and suggesting it could land Blanche in legal trouble.

In early April, Blanche said he would tell Trump, "Thank you very much. I love you, sir," if the president passed him over for the permanent AG role and kicked him out of the White House.

Glenn Kirschner, a former prosecutor, said on the Jim Acosta Show on Tuesday that those comments could be a problem for Blanche. ...

Todd Blanche brutally mocked as major DOJ case collapses: 'Hoisted on your own petard'

A legal expert relished how Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche got a high-profile case thrown out because of his own words.

Glenn Kirschner spoke on Friday about the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case that was thrown out earlier in the day by U.S. District Judge Waverly Crenshaw because it was deemed a "vindictive" prosecution.

"The judge made a special point talking about how Todd Blanche, this is going to be my characterization, said the vindictive part out loud," Kirschner said. "The phrase, 'hoisted on your own petard,' is what comes to mind." ...

Kristi Noem may soon face criminal charges: Ex-federal prosecutor

Former assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Glenn Kirschner argues in a new video that officials in President Donald Trump's administration are on shaky ground regarding potential perjury charges.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who is the chief judge in the District of Columbia, on Tuesday set an evidentiary hearing to determine which (if any) Trump officials intentionally defied his order to turn around planes carrying Venezuelan migrants against in violation of constitutional due process rights. Boasberg ordered two Department of Justice (DOJ) officials to testify in a case examining whether Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem should face criminal charges for allegedly violating a March 2025 order halting the removal of the migrants.

At the center of the escalating court fight is a fundamental test of presidential power and judicial authority and whether Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defied a federal judge’s order to stop the removals....

'Most dangerous defendant on pretrial release': Expert proposes answer to Trump problem

Former President Donald Trump is a "dangerous" pretrial defendant, said former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner on MSNBC — and judges and prosecutors should avail themselves of the tools they have to deal with dangerous defendants.

This comes amid worry about the former president's public attacks on New York Judge Juan Merchan and his family, as his Manhattan hush money trial is just around the corner.

"Donald Trump made a mockery of an insurrection," said anchor Nicolle Wallace. "Donald Trump made a mockery of the Mueller Investigation. Donald Trump has made a mockery of every institution he's touched or talked about. He has now made a mockery of the rule of law, and I wonder what you think the rule of law and those care about it do in response."...
