The Smithsonian Institution restored a key detail about Trump's first administration when unveiling the updated wall text for his national portrait, the New York Times reported.

The updated wall text accompanying Trump's image at the National Portrait Gallery, unveiled Friday, will again mention his impeachments during his first term in office, the Times reported.

The Smithsonian had removed the impeachment text from the exhibition, "At a time when Mr. Trump had been critical of the Smithsonian's depiction of American history and sought to exert greater control over the institution," the NYT noted....

Members of the Republican Party claim that Donald Trump would be removed from his post as President if an internal ballot were taken.

Unnamed sources speaking to Salon columnist Brian Karem, ex-White House reporter, suggested Trump is losing favor with the party. A source with ties to Senator John Thune's office told Karem that a vote on such a matter is not, at this time, viable. They did not rule out such a vote from happening either.

Karem wrote, "If a vote could be taken by secret ballot today, many Republicans I’ve spoken with say Trump would likely be impeached, convicted and removed from office. And after this week, there is a growing possibility it could happen in full daylight with a roll call vote in the Senate. 'I wouldn’t bet on it,' a member of Thune’s office said. 'But let’s see what happens tomorrow.'

Democratic lawmakers were starting to rethink their strategy going into the midterms and considering the idea of impeaching President Donald Trump, The New York Times reported on Friday.

Democrats have long thought it would be more important to focus on affordability and the economy heading into the election cycle, but after Trump's threat this week to wipe out the entire Iranian civilization, things have changed. His demands amid the ongoing war in Iran, combined with voter outrage, "have opened the floodgates of Democratic calls for the president’s removal."

Now, more than 70 Democrats have called to either impeach Trump or invoke the 25th Amendment. ...

A Democratic lawmaker sounded the alarm on Wednesday that it was time for Democrats to proceed ahead with impeachment articles against President Donald Trump.

Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) explained to CNN anchor Pamela Brown why he has called for Trump to be removed from office for threatening war crimes against Iran — criticizing his Republican colleagues for their silence amid the ongoing war and negotiations.

"What Trump and Hegseth were planning was a war crime," Markey said. "They were planning an actual genocide — an actual destruction of a civilization. That's why Trump should be impeached. That's why Democrats should file impeachment articles against Trump. That's why the 25th Amendment to remove him should be invoked."...

The White House has called a grassroots movement seeking the impeachment of President Donald Trump "minuscule" despite the rising number of signatures, according to a Newsweek report.

Nearly 200,000 people have signed the Change.org petition as of Tuesday, which has nearly doubled since January. The petition cites its main concerns and several reasons for launching the campaign:

Rep. Chuy Garcia (D-IL) hit Attorney General Pam Bondi on Wednesday with a serious allegation and demanded she resign.

Garcia accused Bondi of "hiding from the committee" of lawmakers and weaponizing the Department of Justice to target working families, immigrants and to serve President Donald Trump's agenda during a tense House Judiciary Committee hearing on Capitol Hill.

"You're one of the worst attorney generals in our history and an instrument of Donald Trump's lawless authoritarian agenda, and I'm glad the American people are seeing who you are, how you act, and the lack of good values," Garcia said. ...
