Trump told on himself in 'unintentionally revealing' Oval Office rant: analyst

President Donald Trump accidentally admitted his own war is fueling inflation during a rambling Oval Office appearance, a progressive analyst pointed out.

In a Tuesday episode of "The David Pakman Show," the host broke down clips of the president fielding reporters' questions after what he described as "multiple sleeping" moments during the event.

At one point, Trump promised prices would fall the moment the fighting stopped....

Trump will 'go down in history' for sabotaging his own winning issue: ex-Fox News host

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson said President Donald Trump is squandering the very issue that returned him to the White House in historic fashion.

Carlson made the remarks on Saturday on a CNN panel hosted by Kasie Hunt that also featured TV host Cari Champion, former Trump White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin, and former Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien. Carlson argued Trump has lost the trust he once commanded with voters on the economy and inflation.

"We all know that the economy is the number one thing followed closely by inflation," Carlson said. "And ironically, those two things that Trump used to poll the highest at. And that's why he won reelection."...

Trump's only hope for fighting inflation will make him 'very angry': expert

Trump's only hope for fighting inflation will make him 'very angry': expert

An economist argued Saturday that President Donald Trump's only hope of lowering inflation before the midterms will likely make him very, very mad.

Professor of economics Justin Wolfers, who writes the Platypus Economics Substack, made the assessment during an appearance on CNN on Saturday. He explained that markets are already behaving like they expect the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.

Trump has called on the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates for a while, a demand that even fueled his feud with former Fed Chairman Jerome Powell. Trump has touted current Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh as someone he trusts, even though Warsh has yet to lower interest rates....

Trump scolded by WSJ conservatives for standing in the way of a key economic figure

Trump scolded by WSJ conservatives for standing in the way of a key economic figure

The Wall Street Journal editorial board laid into President Donald Trump on Friday for failing to focus on the health of real wages in the economy, as inflation continues to eat into Americans' paychecks — and the Federal Reserve struggles to get a handle on the situation.

"The Labor Department on Friday reported that the consumer price index rose 0.4% in August, and 3.4% over the last year. While energy prices drove most of the monthly surge, that’s no consolation to consumers," wrote the board, which despite its conservative lean has been highly critical of Trump's economic policies.

Inflation in the core index wasn't as bad as usual, the board said — "But even here the reprieve has a caveat. The core index in August still climbed 0.3%, with increases for shelter (0.3%), used cars (0.4%), haircuts (0.4%), day care (1%), wireless phone service (5.9%), and motor vehicle maintenance and repair (1.1%). Inflation for many services has proven to be frustratingly stubborn, as anyone who’s eaten in a restaurant has surely noticed."...

Sending JD Vance to rebut inflation remarks is Trump's 'worst possible strategy': expert

Sending JD Vance to rebut inflation remarks is Trump's 'worst possible strategy': expert

Sending Vice President JD Vance to defend Trump's baffling remarks on inflation was the "worst possible strategy," a political expert said on Tuesday.

Paul Rieckhoff mocked the very idea while speaking on a CNN panel on "Erin Burnett OutFront." However, during Vance's appearance on "The View," he found himself defending Trump's "I love the inflation" comments and laughing off pushback.

"JD Vance is extremely unpopular," Rieckhoff said. "So sending out JD Vance to try to move people is pretty much the worst possible strategy."...

'Highly emotional man': CNBC's Jim Cramer rips Trump as Iran war drives up prices

CNBC's Jim Cramer had strong words for President Donald Trump while talking about the economic pressures brought on by the Iran war.

"Is the president stepping it up in order to end the war? Or is he just stepping it out because he's had it?" Cramer asked during an appearance on "Squawk on the Street," where he spoke about inflation from the conflict. "That's the question, because he is a highly emotional man that's running a military."

Trump is "the opposite" of World War II General George Marshall, Cramer added. The comments came as Cramer broke down how the Iran War is driving up prices....
