Furious right-wing Italian paper brands Trump with a vulgar term in scorching op-ed

A right-wing Italian paper went after Trump with a vulgar name amid his spat with the country's prime minister.

"Sorry to say it, but I can't find, and perhaps there isn't, another way to say it," a translation of the Italian article from the Libero Quotidiano reads. "Donald Trump is an a—."

The article uses the Italian term "coglione," even using it in the headline, as it blasted Trump for ruining progress towards a friendly relationship with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni by telling an Italian news network that she "begged" him for a photo during the G7 summit. Meloni denied the account and accused Trump of making it up in a fierce response that tore into him....

Italians furious as ICE agents sent to Milan's Olympic Games: 'A militia that kills'

Italians were angry Tuesday after news that the US was sending ICE agents to the Winter Olympics in Italy.

The announcement reportedly set off confusion after the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that the unit was heading to Europe to apparently work as "a security role" for the US delegation at the international event, a DHS spokesperson confirmed with CNN.

“They don’t do immigration enforcement (operations) in a foreign country obviously,” the spokesperson said....

A city becomes a museum: Venice begins charging tourists €5 entry

The idea is anything but original. How many times over the last hundred years has a visitor to one of the many canals in Venice come to the realisation that this entire city is basically one big museum? Now this city has officially reached that state, it would seem. Tourists wishing to visit the Italian city of Venice now have to pay an entry fee for the first time, as a trial aiming to limit numbers of day trippers at peak times started on Thursday. Day visitors will have to pay a €5 ($5.30) access fee between 8:30 am and 4 pm unless exempt. Residents of the Veneto region, people who work, st......

G7 pledges more Russia sanctions after virtual talks on Ukraine

Rome (AFP) - The G7 countries pledged support for Ukraine and new sanctions on Russia after a virtual meeting Saturday on the second anniversary of Moscow's invasion. In a statement after the meeting, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also attended, the leaders vowed to "raise the cost" of Russia's war on Ukraine. The G7 leaders didn't make any public statement about further military aid to Ukraine, but urged "the approval of additional support to close Ukraine's remaining budget gap for 2024". "We will continue to raise the cost of Russia's war, degrade Russia's sources of revenue ......

Venice bans larger tourist groups, loudspeakers and some lingering

The city of Venice will ban tourist groups consisting of more than 25 people accompanied by tour guides and will also outlaw loudspeakers on such tours, the city council decided on Saturday. The rules also prevent stopping at narrow streets, bridges or places of passage. The new measures take effect on June 1. The decisions, made on the council's last meeting this year, are part of its effort to limit mass tourism and its negative effects on the northern Italian lagoon city. The rules apply to the city centre and the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. It was implemented to protect residen......

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene reports Christmas Day swatting at her home

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claims a prankster sent a police tactical unit to her Georgia home on Christmas Day. “I was just swatted. This is like the 8th time,” the right-wing firebrand posted on social media. “On Christmas with my family here.” Greene has accused critics of wanting to have her “killed by police” as their reason for phoning emergency services to dispatch a SWAT team to her house when there was otherwise no danger. The congresswoman thanked local police for their efforts Monday and wished them a merry Christmas. “I appreciate them so much and my family and I are in joyous spir......
