News that Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) fired legal experts who opposed his freeing of an election denier has attracted online ire.

Polis' decision to grant clemency to Tina Peters, the former Mesa County clerk jailed for tampering with voting machines, led to backlash last month, but a New York Times article on Wednesday revealed he also fired two members of Colorado's clemency board who publicly spoke out against the move.

Military veteran and political commentator John Jackson wrote to the governor on X, posting, "Hey @GovofCO a real garbage move on your part, punishing the clemency board and freeing the unrepentant criminal Trump is using to try and steal the midterm elections."...

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) shot down the idea of compensating her state's most controversial election denier, according to a new report.

Tina Peters is set to be released from prison on Monday after Democratic Gov. Jared Polis commuted her sentence. According to reporting by CBS News, Boebert doesn't think that Peters should be able to tap into Trump's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund, which critics worry could pay January 6 rioters.

"I would automatically come out and say that this should be funds for people who were wronged by the federal government," Boebert explained, noting that Peters was imprisoned for state charges. "The state probably should rectify anything that they've done with their citizens."...

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is getting love from an election denier, and the internet can't help but roll its eyes at the merry display.

"If you needed proof that Tina Peters lacks remorse, read the post below," wrote Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, who's running for governor. "Commuting her sentence was a historic mistake."

The aforementioned posts were by Tina Peters, the election-denying former clerk whose criminal conviction was shortened by Polis last week. She denounced the Colorado Democratic Party's censure of Polis and thanked him "for being willing to stand up in the middle of this persecution and do what he believed was right." ...

CHICAGO — Saturday Night Live star alumnus Kenan Thompson and Colorado Gov. Jared Polis both appeared on the Democratic National Convention stage Wednesday night carrying a comically oversized book.

That prop, used throughout the third night of the convention, was intended to represent Project 2025, the controversial “presidential transition plan” from conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, that lays out a plan to overhaul the government with extremely conservative policies following a Republican presidential win.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis, who proudly described himself as a ‘balding, gay, Jewish guy,’ on Fox News Monday, is being eyed as a potential running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris in the wake of President Joe Biden’s departure from the race.

Polis fielded questions from Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto Monday and said he’d be open to considering serving as Harris’ vice president.

“If they need a guy who likes dad jokes, who declared his candidacy on Reddit and is a balding, gay, Jewish guy from Colorado, they know where to reach me,” Polis said, provoking laughs from Cavuto. ...
