'Perverse': Hegseth busted 'covering up' troop deaths amid new calls for removal

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's Pentagon has left at least four American military deaths off its public casualty list since the Iran war began, six U.S. officials said.

Six officials familiar with the Defense Department's internal casualty records described the gap to The Washington Post, which published their account Friday.

Five of them said at least 22 service members have died. The Pentagon's public database, the Defense Casualty Analysis System, listed 18 as of Friday. A sixth official said 23 service members have died since Feb. 28, when the Trump administration and Israel launched the war....

'It's nuts!' Trump backing down from his latest 'disaster' raises red flags for Dem

A Democratic lawmaker had a sharp critique for the Trump administration on Tuesday after President Donald Trump opted to back off plans to charge fees in the Strait of Hormuz.

During a live segment with CNN anchor Boris Sanchez, Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) responded to Trump's decision change after the United States was mounting its military offensive in the region and preparing to restart its blockade of the waterway, facing pressure from several Gulf nations who have since offered to invest in the U.S.

"It's not a major reversal; it's Donald Trump's daily reversal," Crow said. "Literally, this changes by the day. One time the strait is open, the next day it's closed. One day we're going to charge a toll, the next day we're not. The next day, we signed a peace deal, an MOU. The next day we don't. This is what happens."...

'Heckuva job!' Disbelief as Dem lavished with thanks from MAGA election denier he freed

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is getting love from an election denier, and the internet can't help but roll its eyes at the merry display.

"If you needed proof that Tina Peters lacks remorse, read the post below," wrote Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, who's running for governor. "Commuting her sentence was a historic mistake."

The aforementioned posts were by Tina Peters, the election-denying former clerk whose criminal conviction was shortened by Polis last week. She denounced the Colorado Democratic Party's censure of Polis and thanked him "for being willing to stand up in the middle of this persecution and do what he believed was right." ...

Pete Hegseth is hiring Trump's enemies — and it could lead to his ouster: Democrat

A Democratic congressman wants to fight fire with fire by turning President Donald Trump against a cabinet member who has been hiring one of the president's enemies.

"What Pete has done, he claims unfaltering loyalty to Donald Trump, but then he's hiring people who Donald Trump has fired, who he's disparaged," Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) said about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during a Saturday interview on "The Daily Beast Podcast."

Crow grilled Hegseth during a hearing earlier in the week, and accused him of "repeatedly going behind the president's back." At one point, he focused on Hegseth's hiring of his personal lawyer, Tim Parlatore, a former Trump ally turned foe....

House Republicans outspent their Democratic counterparts in taxpayer-funded travel expenditures by nearly $8 million since the start of 2023, a new OpenSecrets analysis found.

Eight out of the top 10 biggest spenders between the start of 2023 to March 2024 were Republican members of Congress. They accounted for 7% of total taxpayer-funded travel spending by GOP members of Congress and with each of the top spenders spending two to five times more than the average House office....

‘It all came flooding back’: Trump indictment hard on lawmakers left in House Gallery on January 6

WASHINGTON – This week’s indictment and arraignment of former President Donald Trump was something some lawmakers trapped in the U.S. House Gallery on Jan. 6, 2021 didn’t expect to see, but there were no celebrations when the moments arrived. A part of them still mourns.

The first thought to flash through many minds wasn’t of Trump arrested, it was flashbacks of themselves and others facing likely injury and potential death — “hang Mike Pence” still rings in many ears.

January 6 and being trapped in the Gallery with my colleagues, worrying about my staff and all of the staff inside the Capitol and around the campus. It truly, it all came flooding back to me,” Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) told Raw Story the night the indictment was announced....
