Why Trump was the worst boss ever — according to 12 of his top White House officials

As a filmmaker and documentarian who has made scores of social justice movies and videos, there’s one aspect of Donald Trump’s latest bid for the presidency I can’t get over.

People who worked in the Oval Office with Trump and acted on his orders — most are Republicans — keep saying he must not be president again.

More than a dozen of Trump’s cabinet members and White House aides have not just said he must never hold power again, they have publicly said why — although those career-threatening admissions and warnings have got lost in today’s media. Trump, in their estimation, is “thin-skinned,” “easily distracted,” “a troubled man,” “clearly irrational,” “has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions,” seen by foreign leaders as “a laughing fool.”

So my staff and I compiled a 90-second video to remind people who might watch a short on social media — today’s front pages.

It begins with clips of Trump on Fox News and on the campaign trail bragging that he will appoint “the best people” and have “one of the greatest cabinets ever.”

Here’s what the people who know him best said:

• “He was thin-skinned and easily distracted,” said Nikki Haley, former U.N. ambassador and 2024 GOP presidential candidate.

• “We can’t be following his celebrity leaders with fragile egos who refuse to acknowledge reality,” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who opposes his re-election.

• “President Trump endangered my family,” said Vice President Mike Pence, referring to January 6 rioters who wanted to hang him and Trump didn’t call off. When picked for VP, Trump said he was “the man who I truly believe will be outstanding in every way.”

• “Donald Trump is not fit to be president... I have been in those rooms when he’s met with those leaders. They think he’s a laughing fool,” said National Security Adviser John Bolton, who is not supporting his re-election.

• “Our country can’t be a therapy session for a troubled man,” said Attorney General Bill Barr, who also opposes his re-election.

• “He places our nation’s security at risk,” said Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.

• “A man who is pretty undisciplined,” said Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

• “He failed at being the president when we needed him to be that,” said Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, referring to the January 6 insurrection.

• “A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law. God help us!” said White House chief of staff John Kelly.

• “Clearly an irrational man,” said White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.

• Trump "cares about no one but himself,” said press secretary Stephanie Grisham.

• “The domestic terrorist of the 21st century,” said Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.

Most Americans know Trump.

But the people who know him best — who worked with him in the White House — know him in a way that few Americans do. Their experience and judgment is clear. He is unfit for the presidency. And they have said why.

'Idiot': Marine widow Dem rep blasts John Kelly for late condemnation of Trump

After former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly criticized ex-President Donald Trump in a statement to CNN Tuesday, October 3, over the MAGA hopeful's "disparaging comments about military families and veterans behind closed doors," the ex-Trump staffer is receiving criticism from United States Rep. Fredricka Wilson (D-FL), Politico reports.

Referring to ex-President Donald Trump, Kelly told CNN, "A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because 'it doesn’t look good for me' … and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America's defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France."

According to Politico, "Five years earlier, Kelly defended the former president and attacked Wilson. At the time, Kelly accused Wilson of being 'selfish' for calling Trump's comments to the widow of a fallen Marine insensitive. Trump had told the widow her husband 'must have known what he signed up for' a comment Wilson overheard because she was nearby with the grieving family."

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?

The Democratic lawmaker emphasized, "This is personal. This has to do with my feelings and my name. I don't want generations of children, years from now, to pick up a book or read an article about me and John Kelly and I’m misrepresented."

"Mr. Kelly is an idiot," Wilson said. "He's an idiot for selling his soul for so long to a man who he knew was lying, a man who he knew who was disrespectful to military families, to Gold Star families, to widows, to members of Congress — anything that had to do with the military."

The Florida leader added, "He knew Mr. Trump's record. For him to stand in the White House behind the podium and lie — he's an idiot and he should be ashamed of himself."

'Dumbest of my Military people': Trump unloads on four-star Marine general John Kelly

Donald Trump on Wednesday kept up his theme of insulting his own former military personnel, this time unloading on John Kelly.

Trump has been in the news lately for his attacks on Mark Milley, another retired military officer, but recently Kelly has spoken out to confirm numerous stories shared about Trump's alleged disrespect for the military.

Now, Trump is striking back at Kelly.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

"John Kelly, by far the dumbest of my Military people, just picked up the theme of the Radical Left’s lying about Gold Star Families and Soldiers, in his hatred of me. He was incapable of doing a good job, it was too much for him, and I couldn’t stand the guy, so I fired him like a 'dog,'" Trump said on social media. "He had no heart or respect for people, so I hit him hard—Made no difference to me. He’s already on record defending me all over the place. Nobody loves the Military like I do! Now he finally speaks back by making up fake stories, or confirming the made up stories of the Dems and Radical Left…"

Trump went on to say of Kelly:

"…He’s a Lowlife with a very small brain and a very big mouth. Interestingly, before firing him, his wife, who suffered a lot, told me he would never speak badly about 'President Trump.' Wrong! Did he totally lie about another Lowlife, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson? Let them fight that one out themselves. Numerous people are angry and upset because they know they will never be in a new Trump Administration, but only for one reason, they’re not nearly good enough. Kelly would be among those at the top of the list!"
