Republican lawmaker deals 'one final blow' to GOP leadership as he leaves Congress: report

Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) just one day before he is set to leave Congress, sent a message to his party's current leadership.

Buck, who previously said he is quitting Congress because Republicans have a "personal" grudge against him and the House of Representatives is "dysfunctional," has signed a discharge petition circulated by House Democrats that would force the chamber to hold a vote on military aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan — which GOP leaders have broadly opposed.

"Buck, whose resignation from Congress takes effect on Friday, told reporters 'we've got to fund Ukraine and help people who are yearning for freedom,'" said the report....

'Punishing Donald': Mary Trump says her uncle gets hit hardest from new House GOP drama

Republican lawmaker Ken Buck announced he would retire early, throwing into doubt fellow Republican Lauren Boebert's bid to capture his old seat after he vacates it, but the effects of the decision also hit Donald Trump, according to his own niece.

Psychologist Mary Trump, who counts the former president as her uncle, said on Wednesday that the "one person who will experience the most fallout from this latest House debacle is Donald" J. Trump. She wrote about the topic on her Substack.

"Each time a Republican like Ken Buck resigns or retires in protest, it shines a bright light on the fact that Republican leadership is willing to hurt the American people – by scuttling their own bi-partisan border deal or their cynical unwillingness to fund support for Ukraine in the hopes that Russia will help Donald steal another election," she wrote....

'That's kinda rich': GOP lawmaker hits back at fellow Republican for dysfunction complaint

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) is unimpressed with the complaints from Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) about Congress being paralyzed by chaos and dysfunction as he moves to resign from his congressional seat.

Appearing on CNN Wednesday with Jake Tapper, Lawler pointed out that Buck, a longtime Freedom Caucus figure, was one of a small handful of lawmakers who voted to remove former Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the speakership, a move that divided the Republican Party even more than it had been and led to weeks of paralysis.

"It is the least productive Congress since the 1930s," said Tapper. "I've never seen it so dysfunctional. You have Ken Buck, Congressman Ken Buck quitting next week instead of even just sticking it out until the end of his term, he announced he was retiring because of how uncomfortable and awkward and dysfunctional it all is. You're not denying that?"...

Racism, arrests, extreme MAGA love: Meet Lauren Boebert’s primary opponents

WINDSOR, Colo. — The crowded field for the Republican congressional nomination in Colorado’s 4th District offers voters candidate resumes replete with racism, arrest records and, for at least one hopeful, a devotion to Donald Trump that seemingly eclipses Trump’s love for himself.

And that’s without even considering the non-stop drama and in-your-face partisan politics of the race’s best-known candidate: the recently transplanted Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who currently represents a district on the other side of the state.

Amid political peril and a messy divorce, Boebert moving from western Colorado to jumpstart her political career and restart her life has brought national attention to the state’s staunchly conservative eastern flank. ...

‘Mean girl on a revenge tour’: Kevin McCarthy has knives out for his ‘Gaetz 8’ tormentors

WASHINGTON — Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy may have been publicly beat down before being booted out of power after just 269 days on the job, but his presence is still being felt in the GOP.

And McCarthy’s got some scores to settle first.

McCarthy’s allies have been on the offense against some of the eight far-right Republicans who cost him his coveted speaker’s gavel last fall and prompted his resignation in December....

'We were warned': GOP lawmaker says Republicans knew of issues with arrested informant

A GOP congressman admitted that he and other lawmakers probing President Joe Biden and his son's actions to build up an impeachment inquiry were aware the key witness testimony in the case was shaky.

With the star witness in the impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden facing felonies for cooking up a bogus story shaped by high-level Russian intelligence contacts pinning the president and his son Hunter for taking $5 million apiece in bribes — Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) came forward to acknowledge that they knew it wasn't solid well in advance.

With Alexander Smirnov being accused of telling tall tales to the FBI, only to turn around and admit that "officials with Russian intelligence were involved in passing a story" about Hunter Biden — Buck, who isn't running for reelection, appeared on CNN's "The Source" with Kaitlan Collins stressed that the revelation wasn't a surprise to him. ...
