A senior Democratic senator marveled at the “irony” of President Donald Trump seeming set to lead the United States into another Middle Eastern war, as he mulls joining Israel in striking Iran despite having won two elections with promises of an isolationist, “America First” foreign policy.

“What an irony it would be if Donald Trump dragged us into another Middle East war,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) told reporters at the Capitol.

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) pushed back against his party's increasing line that a weeks-long, delicate bipartisan Senate deal being crafted on foreign defense aid to Ukraine and border security should be rejected purely for the sake of waiting until they can put former President Donald Trump back in office to do something more one-sided.

Doing that isn't productive, and — he suggested — would be bad for Republican messaging.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) reported theft of almost $4,700 from its political action committee — yet another example of fraud experienced by a political organization.

According to Federal Election Commission records, the AIPAC PAC had two fraudulent checks go out on Nov. 30 of this year for $2,740.66 and $1,958.82. The bank refunded the lost money to AIPAC.

AIPAC’s website says it’s a “national movement of pro-Israel Americans … from every congressional district who are working to strengthen bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel relationship....

WASHINGTON – Republicans in Congress aren’t just doing all they can to impeach the Biden name – and possibly President Joe Biden himself – they’re also going to extraordinary lengths to protect two billionaire GOP megadonors who helped the party remake the Supreme Court in recent years.

For one, House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) are trying to stymie Washington, D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb’s investigation into Federalist Society co-chairman Leonard Leo.

Schwalb is looking into allegations that Leo is illegally profiting off non-profits. Jordan and Comer have responded by threatening to subpoena Schwalb. ...
