Todd Blanche brutally mocked as major DOJ case collapses: 'Hoisted on your own petard'

A legal expert relished how Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche got a high-profile case thrown out because of his own words.

Glenn Kirschner spoke on Friday about the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case that was thrown out earlier in the day by U.S. District Judge Waverly Crenshaw because it was deemed a "vindictive" prosecution.

"The judge made a special point talking about how Todd Blanche, this is going to be my characterization, said the vindictive part out loud," Kirschner said. "The phrase, 'hoisted on your own petard,' is what comes to mind." ...

'You joking?’ Ex-MSNBC host gobsmacked as former aide blames Trump scandal on 'bad staff'

Former MSNBC Mehdi Hasan was taken aback when a former White House official blamed Trump's staff for giving the president bad information.

Hasan, who founded independent news site Zeteo, asked former Trump chief-of-staff Mick Mulvaney "to explain Trump's insane defense of the doctored image of Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckles" as justification for deportation.

"He was the man sent illegally to El Salvador by the Trump administration," Hasan said of Abrego Garcia. "They tried to justify his deportation by saying he was an MS-13 gang leader. Trump put out a picture, he held up a picture of his knuckles, showing 'MS-13' photoshopped onto his hand."...

'Huge news': Judge denies Trump's motion to keep Kilmar Abrego Garcia in custody

Donald Trump's administration lost its bid to keep a wrongly deported Maryland man, Kilmar Ábrego García, in custody.

García, who was purportedly sent to El Salvador in error, was recently returned to the United States to face federal criminal charges.

According to legal expert Anna Bower on Sunday, "A federal magistrate judge DENIES the government’s motion to keep Kilmar Abrego Garcia in custody while his criminal charges are pending."...

MAGA blasts former GOP chair as he compares Trump deportations to terrorism

Michael Steele, former chairman of the Republican National Committee and current MSNBC analyst, came under fire for comparing the Trump administration's deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia without due process to hostile forces kidnapping Americans in Russia or the Middle East.

Garcia is an undocumented Venezuelan migrant living with his American citizen wife in Maryland, who was "mistakenly" deported to a high-security prison in El Salvador two months ago. On Tuesday, the Trump administration asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit calling for Garcia's return to the United States.

'Won’t mince words': AOC marks 100 days of Trump 2.0 with profane message

Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) marked President Donald Trump's first 100 days in office by applauding Americans who are "standing up" against his social policies, economic upheaval, and government cuts.

A fundraising email signed by "AOC's Team" began, "We won’t mince words: the first 100 days of Trump’s second term haven’t been easy. But people across the country are standing up against his attacks on the working class," adding that "Trump’s fascist agenda has already incurred over 200 lawsuits and obstacles."

Key Trump voting bloc can no longer stomach major mandate: analysis

Key Trump voting bloc can no longer stomach major mandate: analysis

Independent voters helped propel Donald Trump to his second term in office because they viewed Kamala Harris and the Democrats "as the real threats to democracy," The Brookings Institution reported. But as America nears 100 days since Trump took office, new polling revealed that the same bloc soured on Trump due to at least one of his major mandates.

Greg Sargent with The New Republic cited CNN analyst Harry Enten who examined aggregated polling showing Trump to be "underwater" with Independents "by 22 points, the worst ever in presidential polling." Sargent postulated that the abysmal number may be due to "genuine backlash to Trump’s ethno-nationalist authoritarianism."

Sargent also cited a new Washington Post-ABC News poll showing Trump "slipping underwater on immigration, which has been his best issue." The poll reported that 53% of Americans disapprove of his handling of the issue. Among Independents, however, the disapproval number jumped to 56%....
