President Donald Trump was criticized on Wednesday after claiming he had a great relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, prompting backlash over his recent comments.

Trump, who had called for U.S. military exercises with South Korea to be cut, claimed during an Oval Office press conference that continuing the drills would be unfair to North Korea's supreme leader.

"I do have a good relationship with Kim Jong Un," Trump said. "I didn't like the fact that we're doing these massive military exercises really against North Korea when I'm friendly with him."...

According to reporting by The Wall Street Journal, Trump has been urging his aides to set up a meeting with Kim as soon as this fall. The Journal described the "dramatic diplomatic quest" that analysts and U.S. officials worry could prove harmful if it leads to a bad deal.

In a Saturday morning post, Trump shared a picture of himself gazing into Kim's eyes in which they almost appear to be holding hands.

In a new piece about the GOP's latest "sycophantic" push to curry favor with President Donald Trump, MSNBC columnist Steve Benen felt compelled to include a caveat: "In case there are any doubts, this isn't intended as satire."

New legislation put forth by Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) to make Trump's birthday a federal holiday is just the latest in a one-upmanship competition revealing "a larger pattern that’s worth appreciating" among the GOP, according to Benen.

Tenney introduced the bill last week to combine Trump's birthday observance with Flag Day on June 14 as an all-in-one federal holiday to "recognize him as the founder of America’s Golden Age.”...

A comedian impersonating North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un surprised MAGA TV host Bobby McNeily when he mocked former President Donald Trump's authoritarian tendencies.

At a rally for Trump at Madison Square Garden, McNeily of the Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) caught up with a man who resembled Kim.

"We have Little Rocket Man coming here," the RSBN host said. "Premier, thank you for coming out for President Trump. My gosh, the leader of North Korea."...
