'It's much worse': Yale historian says SCOTUS is flirting with making Trump more than king

Some say Donald Trump is seeking the status of a "king" as he fights for complete and total criminal immunity, but it's actually much worse than that, according to a history professor at Yale Sunday.

Renowned Yale Prof. Timothy Snyder, who previously said Putin wants Trump to win because the former president shows our "system is rotten," has recently spoken out about the right-wing Supreme Court justices seeming to go off the rails when it comes to immunity.

Now, he says "right-wing justices postulate Trump's 'immunity,'" and that, "The objection is that this makes him a king."...

'Trying to be king': 2020 Trump voter explains why she won't support him again

A longtime Republican who voted for Donald Trump in 2020 won't be doing so again in 2024, in part because he is "trying to be king" of the United States.

Eileen, a former Trump voter from Mississippi, recorded a video for Republican Voters against Trump. The group recently announced an ad campaign to highlight the voices of former Trump voters, including Darin, who cited Jan. 6 as the reason he left the former president's team.

How Trump's private ploy to expand immunity would turn him 'into a King George': report

How Trump's private ploy to expand immunity would turn him 'into a King George': report

As former President Donald Trump faces several investigations and criminal prosecutions — amid his run for presidency — the MAGA hopeful and his lawyers argue that Trump maintain "presidential immunity."

In a January 24 op-ed, The Daily Beast's Shan Wu wrote, "Let's make it simple: Presidents, police officers, and pedophile priests are not immune from criminal prosecution. No court has ever ruled that they are. Nor does the Constitution grant such immunity. Trump appears to think that the doctrine of qualified immunity — which is a form of immunity that protects government officials, including police, judges, legislators, and prosecutors, from being sued civilly in lawsuits over the performance of their duties — also protects these categories of officials from criminal prosecutions. But he's wrong."

However, the former president plans put his immunity belief into action if elected in November, according to an exclusive Rolling Stone report....

'Trump wants to be a king': Legal expert issues dire Christmas warning about ex-president

'Trump wants to be a king': Legal expert issues dire Christmas warning about ex-president

Donald Trump wants to be a king, and those who don't vote are going to help him make it happen, a legal expert said Monday.

Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance, a frequent critic of the former president, chose to use Christmas in part to warn people about what a future Trump presidency could possibly entail.

"An important insight about voting, to share with folks around you who say Biden is too old or not their perfect candidate: a decision not to vote will have as much force in determining the outcome of the 2024 election as much as voting in it will," Vance wrote in a post on Substack. "Think your vote doesn’t matter? It definitely does in small local elections where turnout is small. Decisions about who your mayor or sheriff is will definitely impact your life. But voting matters in national elections too. Remember Florida in 2000? George Bush got 2,912,790 votes, 48.8% of the total. Al Gore received 2,912,253, also 48.8% of the vote. The fate of the nation hung on fewer than 1000 votes."...

'Huge opinion': Legal expert says Trump is in trouble after ruling that he's not a 'king'

Being U.S. president didn't anoint Trump with a crown.

In her retort to former President Donald Trump’s motion to dismiss his election interference charges on grounds of presidential immunity, Judge Tanya Chutkan denied in her Friday filing that his four years as leader of the free world didn’t entitle him to “the divine right of kings to evade the criminal accountability that governs his fellow citizens."

Legal analyst Ryan Goodman on CNN's "Out Front" called the formal rebuke a massive development. ...

Los Angeles marks 30 years since Rodney King riots

Los Angeles (AFP) - Black and Asian community leaders gathered in Los Angeles on Friday to mark 30 years since the US city was engulfed in violence in the wake of the acquittal of four police officers for the brutal beating of Rodney King. Dozens died and a billion dollars of damage were wrought as anger flared across the multi-ethnic city following the verdicts, which came despite graphic footage of the assault on the Black motorist. "My late father, Rodney King, became synonymous with police brutality to some people. But our family remembers him as a human being -- not a symbol," Lora King, ......
