MAGA candidate caught at posh Bel Air Hotel — after campaigning from a trailer: report

MAGA Los Angeles Mayor candidate and former reality TV star Spencer Pratt has claimed that death threats prompted him to check into a famed hotel and apparently ditch his trailer, raising questions among his critics.

Pratt, who lost his home in the Pacific Palisades during the devastating January 2025 fire, has claimed throughout his campaign that he lives in a trailer on the property with his family. But TMZ reported on Wednesday that he's now staying at the posh Bel Air Hotel while his wife, TV personality Heidi Montag, has been living in Carpinteria, a coastal town just north of Los Angeles County, with their two children.

TMZ asked Pratt to clarify his comments about living in an Airstream, which he has claimed he and his family lived in during an attack video targeting Democratic candidates in the mayor's race....

LA 2028 Olympics committee chair Casey Wasserman was under fire and facing calls to resign on Tuesday after reports surfaced that he sent "racy emails" to Ghislaine Maxwell.

Wasserman has said that he regretted the messages between himself and Maxwell, which were discovered in the most recent trove of Epstein files released by the Department of Justice last week, according to The Los Angeles Times.

High-ranking politician Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, who represents parts of Southern Los Angeles and coastal communities, is working with the organizing group to plan the Olympic Games, urged Wasserman to step down from his role on the Olympic committee, The Times reported....

Anti-ICE protesters warned of dire long-term effects of this brutal tactic

Following a second fatal shooting by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, public health experts are sounding a stark warning about the immediate and long-term effects of the agency’s use of even non-lethal crowd control weapons like tear gas, pepper bombs and flash-bang grenades.

On Saturday, video evidence showed ICE agents pepper spraying Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old veterans intensive care unit nurse, before wrestling him to the ground, where he was shot. Pretti was declared dead at the scene. Forensic audio analysis revealed at least 10 shots fired in less than five seconds.

“The justification for the use of [crowd control weapons] is that they reduce these kind of violent clashes, escalations, and so should really only be used as kind of a last-ditch measure to prevent violence and death and injuries,” Ryan Marino, an emergency room physician and medical toxicologist in Cleveland told Raw Story....

Stephen Miller accused of trying to get migrants to do his job with 'made-up' figure

Top Trump aide Stephen Miller is using a "completely made-up figure" to convince Americans and undocumented immigrants alike that self-deportation is the way to go, according to an official with the nonprofit American Immigration Council.

"Miller recently claimed that 1 million people have self-deported already," Aaron Reichlin-Melnick told Slate, adding, "That’s a completely made-up figure. But the goal is to send the message that everybody’s doing it, they’re all leaving: 'If you leave now, then you won’t have to worry about this happening to you. You won’t have to worry about being thrown on the ground by Border Patrol, shoved into a detention center, and treated poorly, if you just go home now.'"

To accomplish his main goal of getting migrants to self-deport, Miller has struck fear in the hearts of those seeking work and a better life in America, not just the criminal element, Reichlin-Melnick said....
